All about opinions - I agree he's been poor this season but in previous seasons he has certainly not let us down. If he regains the form he had last season then keep him - otherwise we need to move on - although I do think he can provide cover at Right Back (and we are pretty short in that area) - Complete 100% player who, on his day, is a pretty good right back - just unfortunately hasn't had many (any) of those days this season
I think all the bravado and effort he put in just masks the fact he's not a good player. You can tell he is Keane signing, and I think I'm right in saying he's the only one of those players left at the club. We need to move on from those players if we want to progress.
Disagree - this season I agree with every word - but last season and the one before he was excellent - nbothing to do with "bravado and effort" he looked a good player - this season, however, he has looked terrible most of the time (although he had his best game for us this season against Soton IMO!)
You're right that its all about opinion, I think we can do better, and I think we can move him on for a decent fee, especially if Brucey wants him at Hull, or one of the other newly promoted teams. If you look at Danny Rose, he's the kind of full back we need. Excellent defensively and going forward. Bardo is decent at the back, but offers little to buggery going forward apart from the odd howitzer of a shot that more often than not ends up in the back of the stand
Bardo is a solid RB, just let down by injuries this season and hasnt found his form. I judge Killa on the games I've seen him played, not the ones he hasnt. He had 1 bad game for us, and that was it.
(It's nice to have 2 people with different opinions - you and me - and not have one of them saying "You're wrong and I'm right" or "You're full of ****, you have no idea etc!") Agree wholeheartedly - particularly the Kilgallon bit - I have only seen him have 1 bad game and that was when partnered with Bramble!
Thing is with Killa. I cant remember having any particularly astounding games, apart from when we beat Man City last season. He's just a bit meh, he's a perfect fit for a newly promoted club, especially with the experience he's gotten from us, I just think we should be aiming a little higher now. Especially if we want to progress as a club
A bit off topic: How much do opinions of footballers change in such a short space of time? Most fans want Bramble out now, and lots were happy when Turner went. How many remember when Bramble and Turner were one of the best partnerships in the premier league (2010/2011) season ? In November 2010, Sunderland had kept 7 clean sheets in all competitions. Bramble played in 6 out of 7. In a few articles, Turner and Bramble were considered to be in the best 10 defensive partnerships in the league. Then both got injured around the same time, both came back but fans opinions had already changed and they never refound their form (and some might argue never got the chance to).
I think Turner was underrated personally. He may not have been classy but he tackled well, headed well and cleared well. And I will always remember the game where he bombed forward at every opportunity. that was some entertaining stuff
Depends when they come in and who they are. Football is a very smple game indeed, get the ball, pass the ball, players move with intelligence, put the ball in the onion sack. Management and coaching the hedgehogs, baboons, parrots, beachballs (haha) or even proffessional footballers on millions of pounds to do it is another matter. I have already said that the transfer of players in is well under way with the three I mentioned previously and I guarantee (bet you a pint) you at least 10 players will come in this summer. We have 3 or 4 injuries and we are knackered, If we have been saying we have a small squad, 5 or 6 are going to go it,s not hard to work out. (having bleated on like this it will probably be 9)
Turner is no good for the premier league now, he's ridiculously slow and forwards beat him for fun these days.
Still not sure about 10!!!! I'm not so sure whether PDC will be able to get rid of many! Who would have them???? I would say keep most of what we have......but add 5 quality players!
I agree Billy Id go one step further and retain Seb too, always capable of pulling off his free kick specials
BOTTOM LINE: We need to sign Quality. Not ones for the future, not squad players who are "good value". We need quality. The like of Stefan Swartz and Steve Bold were signed when we had just come up from the championship and they were class players that first season. There are players out there and we need to sign 5 of them and Rose. As for what we currently have I like Gardner and he i one of the reasons were still in the EPL. He scored some vital goals and pens. Killa is great back up. I think from the list of players that can go people are saying sell some of them not all of them. Our squad is not thin we have plenty of players, its thin on quality and that's what we need to sign.
