Thanks. I had a feeling that people had mention something like this before, but it's nice to have a summary and clarification. And even better that we clear our debts whether we stay up or not!
Another interesting thing that DM said (and has now said several times) is that the club is run "as a co-operative". Does anyone know what that means exactly? I assume it means in part that the directors don't take any dividend from any profit the club makes. But does it mean more than that?
Interesting post, article and discussion this. As one who tends to be positive about the club, I see that as what being a 'supporter' is about. It's one thing to be disappointed about a performance, or even a run of games, but the point about perspective is important here - where we've been and where we are going in the future. Astro summed that up nicely, and how much we have to look forward to if we can stay in the PL. DM has put football first (a great relief to those of us who suffered through the Robert Chase era of selling players so the club could invest in land deals). CH uses the term 'balance' very effectively, balancing between defence and attack, for example. He knows it would be better to be scoring goals as well as preventing them, but he also knows that it's not something that can be made to happen. The addition of Becchio and Kamara will help in that regard both now and in the future and like many here, I think 4-5 quality players will be added in the summer and hopefully the balance will be achieved. In the absence of a smiley, if there is anything in what I've said that sounds arrogant, it certainly wasn't intended on my part. OTBC!
The arrogant point I made was on very few posters. Don't get me wrong. I think that we should be excited about the future too, but like i said i don't like the comparing our new squad to then.
I've only been a season ticket holder for 6 years, so a relative newcomer; though I was a 'Super Member' for a few years before that. I've followed NCFC down in League 1, witnessed the 1st half of that awful August day when Colu Mike and his gang came to our fine city and showed us how to play football. I admit that I was pretty disgusted coming home after the games against Fulham and Saints - if we'd won that game against Saints with the last minute penalty, I wouldn't have felt any better. I watched last Sunday's game down the pub and felt that we could have something to shout about by the end of the season and I'm in the 'glass half-full' brigade and don't care what happened in the past, but only care what will happen in the future and seeing who we sign in the summer. Who knows if with our Cat 1 Academy, we may unearth our very own - "Bale, Walcott, Chamberlain, Shearer or Le Tissier etc!!" The future's bright - the future's Yellow & Green!!!!
