He would cost between £10m & £15m in the current climate with his contract running down plus with his age. And I doubt he'd sign a new contract if we told him we were interested and would pay him X amount more than Fulham have offered him.

If Dempsey had 18 months to run on his contact and Liverpool contacted the player or his rep's without consent from Fulham then Liverpool would be in a world of trouble. Although Liverpool should try and persuade Fulham to sell at a reasonable fee and at 29, 15+ million isn't a reasonable fee. Liverpool will be much better with G Johnson, Kelly and Lucas returning though.

You're how many points ahead of us in the table? That arrogance has no place here. And reports suggest you need to TRIM your wage bill, so suggesting you could offer Dempsey a lot more than we are offering him is utter nonsense.

To the other poster, no what's hilarious is that you were DELIBERATING whether or not to take him on a free. Why do you think anything north of £15 million is silly money? He has PL experience, scores goals, is a full international. Tell me, how many of those attributes does your £35 million striker have?

He's said that he will only go to a Champions League team - so that rules out Liverpool for the foreseeable future. If Clint does go it will be to Arsenal or an overseas team- he'd do well in Italy.

If Dalglish does survive the summer I'd be very surprised to see the owners give him a budget to allow for a lot of the signings suggested above. He's signed 7 players so far at a cost of more than £100m. He might get £20m to spend plus any cash raised through sales, but he can't overhaul the squad again.

Funny that, so did Enrique when he was at Newcastle. Who did he actually sign for? Liverpool, who had no European football at the time. So that's a bit of a fail on your part.

We're having one of our worst seasons in history, or certainly since before Shankly took over, league wise and we've still won 1 more trophy than you and are ahead of you in the league when you are having one of the best seasons in your history.

And the reports you've read about our wage bill needing to be trimmed are wrong. Fact.

Agree with your last two sentences but I disagree with the start of your post. The likes of Nasri & Modric obviously had MCity/Chelsea in their ears for ages before the actual approaches. Same with Torres, Abramovich went out to South Africa to try and persuade him to join Chelsea.

Is that supposed to prove anything? Enrique and Dempsey are two different people.

Yes, that footballers are a mainly a disingenuous bunch of people. Enrique and Dempsey are two different people, yes, I think we all knew that. But they are both footballers, and history suggests what footballers say in public rarely reflects their actual intentions.

You could argue that Dempsey is an exception to the norm, and he actually means what he says unlike other footballers. Fair point and you could be right, but the proof will be in the pudding come the summer when there's a couple of Europa league teams knocking at his door. I'm very doubtful that he'd reject a Chelsea/Liverpool/Spurs/Atletico Madrid/Inter Milan/Roma or any of the big European teams don't finish in the CL this season.

Not to sound arrogant and disrespectful toward Fulham of course, as I have a lot of respect for you as a club, but I'm highly doubtful that Dempsey would willingly stay at Fulham over having a first team spot at one of the big European teams, even if they aren't in the CL.

One Striker and One Center Midfielder is all we need. The striker needs to be a player similar to Torres (when he was at Liverpool) top class finisher who runs behind the defence. The Midfielder a creator who grabs a few goals in a season (Aquilani may even still be the man). Any other signings depend on who we sell, and with rumours of Kuyt leaving, Adam Johnson or Junior Hoillet would both be apt replacements.

I watched MOTD3 on bbc.co.uk where Jason Roberts was asked on the lines of "In current state, which of Liverpool or Newcastle would you choose given the choice?" Roberts answered Liverpool. Which to me does suck eggs, but that's the reality of the situation. Because Liverpool's fortunes are contrasting Newcastle's right now doesn't mean we will be a bigger pull so it's probably fair to say Liverpool will have bigger pull in terms of footballers than Fulham even though Fulham are a good team they don't have the stature of Liverpool which is only out done by Manchester UTD in this country.

    Err, well, all 3. <whistle>
Question: how does a Fulham fan even come to find this thread? What, we mention Clint Dempsey and suddenly an alarm sounds on your board does it?
Why is it hilarious 'deliberating' whether to take him on a free? We'd have to consider his suitability, wages and a number of other things. As had been (rudely) pointed out, he isn't available anyway, so it doesn't matter.
And if you think the points difference currently in the table would even factor into his decision, you're having a laugh. We've had our worst league run in HALF A CENTURY and we're still above you.

Not to sound disrespectful toward Liverpool, but you can't really put yourself in with Chelsea and Tottenham, there is a gap of 13 and 16 points respectively there. I'd say Liverpool are a big European team in the way Benfica, Ajax and Nottingham Forest are. If you look around Liverpool in the league you'll find Everton, Sunderland and the mighty Whites!

I think CL is the main factor - he has a family in London, in one of the nicest areas. He gets paid well, the fans love him and he is a national hero- he hasn't got much to prove.

We understand all too well why there is a disparity between our performances and the points that we have amassed. If we cannot put ourselves in with Chelsea and Tottenham then tell me why we can beat Chelsea and draw with Spurs (even our early season loss was only secured when we were down to 9 men).

Keep dreaming of your mighty Whites because that all you'll ever be able to do.

Right...so you're saying we're a way off Chelsea and Spurs because of a 13-16 point gap, and then saying we're the same as Notts Forest?! Wtf pal, they're in the (actual) league below us so (by your logic, which you randomly abandoned half way through your post) we're miles ahead of them.

You begin comparing league form, then European form, then you go back to league again. One point does not support the other.

If you're speaking of Europe, what have Spurs done? A quarter final last season and an exit at the EL group stage this. But yes, that makes them a bigger name in Europe than us and negates our 5 victories, doesn't it?

Tell you what, just say what you like from now on, because I won't bother replying. You're clearly only picking and choosing things to suit your illogical argument.

Hope you're enjoying that high horse you're currently riding all the way into the sunset of mid-table mediocrity you arrogant bugger...

Enrique left because the stupid prick thought, like all your precious ex-playing-pundit-sychophants, that Liverpoo have the resources to get trophies (and him an extra few quid to boot). Well he was right, unfortunately, but fortunately Granny Kenny wasted them... Still, I bet he can polish that worthless cup medal tinfoil real good for the grandkids!

So many players to resent, all at one club, no wonder it was the best atmosphere of the year!!!

It's even better that it's a fat Geordie acting as the lead weight bringing some of the pretentious arrogance of some of the Scousers back down to Earth!

    "Liverpoo","Granny Kenny"

I like Newcastle and Geordies and a childish prick like you wont change that.

    <laugh>

And btw think of all your players and managers over the last 50 years and ask yourself if they have any medals to polish.
