Vardy does seem happy here. However he is late 20's before he started making money out of the game so may be tempted to cash in. Agree Mahrez will probably go. The problem I see is the wage structure. Even with Mahrez and Vardy signing new deals last summer I can see them raising their eyebrows in the direction of their pockets this summer. They are our stars but what will Big Wes (club captain) Albrighton, Drinkwater and other top performers think? That maybe the issue that lets our owners let Vardy and Mahrez go.
Good points about the other performers. I think it's one of them that if as a club we are to progress to the next level, it will mean breaking transfer records and raising wage budgets. As long as the players are performing, they all deserve rises to an extent but they will be aware that certain players are getting interest from elsewhere. To cover the club in the event of relegation, there's the option to do what Hull apparently did and put wage drops in the contracts whilst offering them more whilst we are in the prem
Agreed. .. partly why I'd not be surprised to see stadium expansion overr the summer to over 40k . all in the grand plan I'm sure ..
Yeah we need that expansion. I also think the relegation wage drops are good for a team of our stature as if you look at Hull, it's made sure they're not in financial trouble having overpaid players but also they seem to be playing very well for it as oppose to QPR for example. You can't go letting the best players leave because you're too worried about giving wage rises
Back to the OP, I can totally understand the point that they are trying to make. I mean, the fixtures have been so kind to us, that so far we've only had to play teams that are below us in the league
