The assist from Guly gets better every time I see it. I didn't really notice it at first.

Kelvin was our MOM today. Saints were terrible! It is a worry that we have so few options off the bench when it all goes wrong.
Dont understand why Guly was taking the corners on the left. Firstly he was useless but on Tues Fox took them and we scored so why was he suddenly swapped? Odd...

Im sorry but i cant stop thinking about Guly costing us the game in points today, the only thing that saved him slightly was setting up de ridder.
The way i look at it...
-Gave away the ball leading up to hammond yellow + goal
-Gave away the ball in some really promising positions
-Gave away the ball leading to hammond being sold short ending in red card for hammond.

I wouldnt of even minded but he just looks soooo lazy sometimes!!

It was very obvious that this would be the case right back at the start of the season. We always needed to sign an extra attacker. Of course reducing the size of the bench down to 5 players hasn't helped either.

But hey, we're top of the table after 13 games, so it's very hard to critical. I'd take this over having an extra attcking option or two on the bench, but sitting down in 10th place.

I'm sorry Red and White Barmy Army, but this is a ridiculous post. How can you say that any one player "cost us the game"? Several players were off too form and gave the ball away. We didn't pass well. We got caught in possession alot, but no-one player merits the "cost us the game" tag.

When I read posts like yours I just see either someone who either has it in for one particular player; or someone who is just really frustrated at a poor team performance and lack of a win; or someone who hasn't really played the game.

Guly was one of several who underperformed.

    Thankfully not all underperformed.

Let's get a grip here folks and please stop slagging of individual players who for most games have been excellent and put us top of the league. It's time for saints fans to stRt being supporters not just fans.

Someone said somewhere once "it's not about the individual, it's about the group". now get back in the building and on that damn bus, please.

Had to go to Claridge on FL show for a sense of proportion. Said that this match would show NA more about the character of the team than the win against West Ham. Ignore Saints at your peril, he said, because they will go on and get something out of the game. Both on Sky and the FL show, they remarked that points like thise could turn out to be crucial in gaining promotion. I know they are not emotionally involved, but pundits have been less hard on Saints than fans are. Also great goal and yet again the goals are being shared out.

definately ring the changes for the cup game, dont even risk lallana on the bench. i would go with
    bart,
    harding,fonte,martin,fox
    de ridder, schniederlin, cork/chaplow, holmes
    barnard (if fit) forte

bench: forecast, hooiveld, cork/chaplow,connolly,lambert, dickson and richardson

Well said, too many people highlight the bad things someone Guly does but never realises the technique, movement and small things he does in a game. Plenty of our front players failed to retain the ball yesterday so why pick particularly on Guly or for his defensive disply (which was not great) but at least he tried to get back and recover the ball unlike De Ridder who is still learning to do this. We need Guly's flair especially without Lallana and I don't think people appreciate the talent he has.

I thought we might get three points before the match started but with Lallana missing and a sub-par performance, I think we did really well to get a point especially after going down to ten men. Playing the likes of Derby, West Ham and Reading have demonstrated what a good league this is this season and how well we have done to retain the top spot. This is a fantastic achievement. Next week's game will be another tough performance as I think Middlesborough appear to be one of the league's better teams. It is fascinating how the play-off positions seem to revolve each week - at the moment the initative seems to be with Crystal Palace. I think that you have got to assume that one of the automatic places will eventually be filled by West Ham. They performed poorly against us last Tuesday but I would imagaine the quality in the squad will eventually win out by the end of the season. Odd to hear Merrington comment on Reading being our most difficult opposition to date as it seems to be that the problem yesterday was more to do with Saints not being at the races.

Ideally I would like to see Saints convert some of the away matches into three points so that we can start pulling further away from the pack. The loss of Lallana and possibly Fonte will make this harder to achieve and I look forward to them being able to contribute.

We played badly, but on the upside we got a point when we didn't deserve it. It's clear that we miss Lallana, but he must be very close to a return.

Sorry to gatecrash the thread, but having come back from the BBC Football website, I thought I'd better inform peeps that there has been a change of bragging rights at the top of the Premier League. People will know that I'm not normally one for being remotely interested in any other football goings on, bar Saints, but read this:

    ManU 1 - 6 Man City.

Think we've witnessed something a wee bit major in that scoreline.

Just glad if anyone different can win the PL. Suggests that another well run team owned by a foreign billionnaire could win the title<whistle>
