Match Preview
Going into this game, Reading are level on points with us (both on 36), but we are above them on goal difference. Their problem has clearly been conceding goals, as they have let in 36 already this season. In their last five, they have knocked Watford out of the cup, lost to WBA and Birmingham, drew with Norwich and also beaten Swansea. Their top scorer is Tom Ince, who is clearly enjoying playing under his Dad, and has 6 goals so far this season, followed by Lucas João with 5 then Andy Carroll with 4. Having taken over, initially temporarily in February 2022, Paul Ince has clearly steadied the ship at Reading, following a period when they had 4 managers in just over 2 years. Makes us look like a stable club!
As for us, all that needs to be said about the last game has been said...what a shambles. If the line really is, 'we can focus on the league now', I'm hoping for one hell of a display in games like this one, against teams in and around us. Anymore ball watching, taking the foot off the pedal after going a goal up, and being lazy will not be forgiven, and the fans will, rightly, get massively on their backs. Big news from the club this week is that Rayan Kolli has signed a pro-deal having joined the club at 8...good sign and hope he gets some game time and experience asap.

QPR: Stefan Johansen edges ever closer to a return, but Leon Balagoun, Luke Amos and George Thomas all missing out.
Reading: Liam Moore will miss out, with Sam Hutchinson, Dejan Tetek, Naby Sarr and Scott Dann pushing for returns.

Neil Critchley (QPR Head Coach): “I see the challenge in front of us and I like a challenge. Last week was a horrible experience. You don’t want to lose any game of football, particularly in that fashion, but it made things clearer in my mind about what we need to do.
“If anything, it has made me more committed and more motivated. That’s the passion of the job. You talk about it and then you get out and work on it.
“We have to do everything we can to make sure we are there come the end of the season. A couple of wins can really change the feeling. You have seen teams put runs together and it can totally change the outlook. That has to be our aim and it starts this weekend with a tough game at Reading.”
Paul Ince (Reading Manager): “QPR are a very dynamic side, they have got some top, top players.
“Everything about them is going to be tough, we must make sure we are structurally right, but it should be a good game and I am looking forward to it.
“Every game we play in this division is going to be decided on the day. We have to compete and we have to do the right things to come out on top.”
