Yes I think you are right Steel.
He also refused to resign for Chelscum as he wanted first team football.

He is a complex character, and these social media interviews really don't help his perceived personality.

Every player at this level has to believe in their ability to succeed. It is the direct comparison to Kakay, a younger player, that is the problem.

Anyone still want to defend the twat?
He knew he was being filmed and it was an interview.
I wouldn't pay £13.00 for him to play Sunday league.
13 million my arse!

I always said he thinks he's better than he actually is and this interview bares that out and explains the fingers in his ears celebration.

Get rid.
Mountain out of a mole hill. A footballer is a bit of a dick, what a surprise. He's talking about motivation, its unsubtle and somewhat arrogant but **** me talk about overreaction.

Well hopefully that will get Kakay fired up :emoticon-0100-smile
Looking forward to some feisty play from Ossie to the end of the season.

I had to admire Ejaria yesterday even though he was playing in a fake shirt. Can't remember seeing as gifted a player in the Championship since Eze was playing for us last season.

But our Willock was also really good when he came on.

I think he was trying to explain how he motivates himself and maintains self confidence. I agree that this isn’t really a story other than to show how careful you have to be when giving interviews. It’s the reason why interviews with footballers are generally so bland.

you know what we are all forgetting. The interview was probably done on Red Nose Day as a funny to raise money. 13 million...even at chelscum 13 million..........buttons? peanuts?

How often have you ever heard a player say in a public interview that he's a better player than the guy selected ahead of him?
We have excellent team spirit and this will knock it imo.
He wasn't talking about motivation, he was complaining because Kakay was picked ahead of him and Kane thinks he's a better player.
I don't particularly rate Kakay, but this was totally unnecessary.

Tosh. He says you need competition and having a player he perceives as not as good as him in front of him in the pecking order puts a fire in his belly. It's wholly about his motivation, he's hardly dug Kakay out. Outrage over nothing.

Have you heard more than the short clip on here?
On that, he doesn't say any of what you describe.
Anyway, we'll agree to differ.
You didn't answer my question about hearing a player say this in public before.
I haven't.

He's also deluded, cos he's not better.

Steels posted a longer transcription (see post [HASHTAG]#147[/HASHTAG] I think).

It's unusual for someone to openly say something like that sure. But I don't know what this "interview" was for who its audience is, whether it was a candid off the record remark or what.

He may be deluded he's also our best right back currently regardless of what the haters think. Kakay has years on his side though and will continue to improve.

I'd expect Warburton to take action if he sees this. How do you maintain team spirit when you have a player openly claim to be better than another? Maybe not hanging this time but a fine or made to do the kit washing for a week. The manager needs to maintain discipline and not let this get out of hand. What if Kaykay starts to Tweet that Kane is full of sh.it? It needs someone to put their foot down, and that foot is Warburton. (please forgive blatant Animal House reference!)

Happy with the draw by the way.

This is the best solution so far. Hopefully he’s been made to pick up the litter around the training ground too.

I'd be amazed if this isn't dealt with internally with a fine.
We'll probably never know, but as you say, Warburton has to take action to prevent it escalating.
