It will be fantastic if we do but not a problem if we dont as we are looking good. Bony is happy to stay and its going to take a champions league side to ever praise bony away and he will want first team football on a regular basis, Should he not get his way then i think he will stay another season and hopefully his valuation will go from £25m to £40m+....He is happy with the way things are at the moment and we are in a win win situation whatever happens...
Robbie the Oracle. Last season he said Villa would go down. He certainly knows how to wind up gullible football fans',mind you there is a lot of them.
I hate to even think it, but if Bony is scoring goals in the Autumn he'll be gone in January, especially if he starts well in the African Cup of Nations. A lot of big spending clubs will look at his record over the last three years and if they are still in Europe will be prepared to spend big to get a proven goal scorer who is not cup tied. By that time there will be glut of offers between £25 - 30 mn and Huw won't turn away from that sort of money.
We'll just buy another striker for £15 million, pocket the rest and give all the fans free season tickets in 2015/16..................................
Looking at the highlights the obvious thing that stands out is that we look for more attacking and prepared to shoot from all distances rather than try to walk the ball into the net. Players also look happy and united together too. One criticism of Vorm last season was that he wasn't convincing in the air, Fabianski looked very convincing in the air and also parried a couple of shots away from goal too. Looked very good there. After seeing that, I can't wait for the new season to start in two weeks time
Apparently his distribution was poor, which was Vorms strongpoint. That's something he should be able to improve.
Fabianski looks very good really. Nice to see a Swans keeper take a ball out of the air - we havent had one of those for ages. Routledge looks like he's going to have a good season again. Montero looks nippy. Gomis is very very quick and can finish. Bony''s through balls are exquisite. All in all very promising.
I'm not getting carried away with the performance against Reading. Solid and professional against a weakened and young team. Hopefully most of the players were playing in second gear. Negatives Several sitters missed by a number of players - including a penalty. Two goals gifted by Reading errors (but they were well taken). Fabianski's distribution - with a weak defence the last thing we need is to be on the back foot from poor passing from the keeper. Players not being involved for long stretches. A lot of incomplete passes. Lack of width even when using Dyer, Montero and Routledge. Shots off target Positives Pace Bony Well taken goals Creation of opportunities Shots from different areas I hope Bafe and Bony don't get in each others way as Michu and Bony did early on in the season. Looking forward to the game next Saturday - that should tell us far more than the friendlies so far.
It was strange when the friendly game dates were announced to see two games so close together,Bournemouth Fri night and Reading Sat afternoon. There was disappointment with the Bournemouth result and most media reports conveniently omitted to say that we played seven under 21's players in that game. I think it should have been announced beforehand as Bournemouth v Swansea X1,as were quite a few clubs fixtures so named over the weekend, thereby clearly defining the Swans team as not necessarily the first team. The first team proper played Reading yesterday and besides playing well, they showed us that there is a big gap between the youngsters and the first team. Even before the season starts we've got several injuries, which makes one wonder if the squad is big enough.Hopefully the three additions mooted will include a right back and a defensive midfielder in the Britton mould, now that Canas is clearly on his way out.
