A fair assessment of the game as I saw it, I wasn't expecting anything from it, especially after seeing the team sheet a draw was an excellent result. Magennis does look a better option than Eaves when he came on, but Eaves didn't really get the type of service he probably needs. Maddison does look a good addition, hopefully, when he gets fitter he will be a real asset. The injury front does look worrying, though we said this during the Bruce era also, we are probably no better or worse than other clubs on average, but having 11 or now 12 out with Lichaj being added does look bad. On the whole, a good result and an OK performance under the circumstances, though I fear Tuesday night will be a bigger test.
It’s no surprise as he managed both clubs. Maybe he was there scouting ahead of the Leeds game, just in case he gets a call from them?
Nothing wrong with been positive but Eaves is now our top scorer , we'll certainly miss Bowen and Grosicki on that front at least.
Why didn't the players make much of an effort to come over to the fans at the end. Not a bad turnout considering our form.
Both of them look better when replacing the other one, neither look particularly useful when starting, though I'd give it to Eaves for work rate and hold up play.
This is very true, I do think both are hampered by a lack of support and service. Both would suit a 4 4 2 formation alongside klp or wilks
I agree. Although Magennis definitely had an impact when came on yesterday, he has done very little when he has started recently. And it probably helped that he had more support up front in the last 20 mins ( Wilks and KLP) than Eaves had earlier in the match. Eaves has also often come on and made a difference, and I thought he started well yesterday, but faded as the game went on.
The question was about missing them yesterday and I honestly didn’t think that at any moment during the game, that I thought if only we had Bowen or Grosicki. Will that be the same for the rest of the season I don’t know. I think that I just was more focused on Maddison.
And that's where I think the formation isn't quite working; he's playing as a lone target man and has done pretty much the entire season, so the amount of ground he has to cover is immense, especially given that our wingers don't tuck in and leave him horribly isolated. He'd perform much better as part of a front two I reckon, or as the central figure in a front three (which, admittedly, we tried earlier in the season and failed with).
