Too many long words for you?

Ok, the statement was not many replies. I said because people are bored of the subject. Not all people, Stuart Blampey and Castro aren't. I'm not. Clearly you are not. So that's 4. Out of 1850 on here.

So Castro thinks it is because people are not comfortable with reality. I agree with him, but we disagree on what the reality is.

    Have a good Christmas.

    Are you sitting comfortably?

Courtese runs the club with an eye for detail that is sadly lacking in many clubs. Players brought in and from the youth system have improved their values and the club is well in control of its finances.
Yes it does have the legacy of the Leibler fortunes, but the club is run well. Investment is in the academy and training ground.
If we can emulate any club it should be Southampton.

The man who runs SFC is Nicola Cortese- appointed by Markus Liebherr

I'm assuming you did the research but just made typos with the names.

I've copied below a 2012 article which details the extent of the Liebherr legacy, which dwarfs that of AA.

"For example, when Markus Liebherr took over Southampton Football Club through his holding company DMWSL 613 Limited, he stated, “I believe we have a superb opportunity to rebuild this great Club. Clearly, this will require resources, planning, hard work and patience. We will assemble a strong management team at every level of the Club. We will act rapidly, but also plan for the long term, because I am here for the long term.” This short statement highlights all the positives and strengths of corporate investment over private equity, namely a long-term commitment, financial investment and “strong management,” an essential component of a successful business.

Unlike private equity investment, where stakeholders may feel as if the business is purely having its profits squeezed for the benefit of a short term investor looking to make a fast buck, corporate investment, as illustrated by Markus Liebherr, puts financial motives no higher than any other. In fact, investment in the case of point goes to prove that having “only” financial motives does not make it more likely that the business will succeed.

To expand, Southampton F.C. were acquired for £15m and since then more money has been invested into the club’s long term future – rather than the short term future, as was the case with Fenway Sports Group at Liverpool. A further £15m was spent on improving Southampton F.C.’s training facilities, 93% of a £16.4m turnover was invested back into the club in the form of wages and a further £14m was paid into a capital contribution reserve by the corporate investor.

The various forms of investment from the corporate investor goes to show how the club’s long term interest is of sole priority and interest to the investor and the likelihood of success was further increased in early 2012 when Southampton had £33m of loans invested in the club by the corporate investor, Liebherr, converted into shares, removing it as a liability. This leaves Southampton F.C. with no debt, unlike Liverpool F.C, as, like many private equity investors, Fenway Sports Group financed the takeover using significant amounts of debt."

Major investment and expert management in place in the backroom.

Not the type of crass name change antics, ill-disciplined interviews and spiteful gestures that some other Premiership clubs have had to suffer.

    Just typos,
Back a few pages of threads and I posted that the cost of getting to the PL was roughly the same for Assem Allam if he had bought the club in Administration or as he did.
The above article perfectly supports my case.
Cortese has had a hard time from supporters in the past. He is not liked but he has brought results.
We need someone like him at the helm, sooner rather than later. We need the foolish to stop being foolish and we need a new name like we need a hole in the head.
Reading will be reliant on an Arabic owner, should we model ourselves on them?

Cortese attracted flak after getting rid of the former Scunthorpe physio- anyone can see it was the only option of that club was to progress and attract a manager of intrnational profile. Which they have done with very successful results.

    Vindicated and how.

Theirs is a great model to follow. Extensive inward investment and coherent strategic management. The very large sums are a massive help too.

Our model as I've said appears shallow, incoherent and unconvincing.

I am not saying it won't happen. I am saying I don't want it to happen. Hopefully it won't. If it does my fifty years of supporting Hull City AFC will end. The years of supporting Hull Tigers can begin for those prepared to drop all history and tradition and who war willing to whore themselves just to the a team playing qgainst all the stars of the
PL they are so desperate to see. To me supporters support their club at whatever level they are at. I have been happy to support City for 47 seasons when we were not in the top flight. Obviously nowadays we have people who only want to watch, I use the word watch deliberately and not support, the club in the top flight.
Of course when Craig gets his way we won't be discussing this as he feels history and tradition should be blanked out. He would have fitted right in working in The Ministry Of Truth in 1984 or for Pravda or the Volkischer Beobachter.

You and I must be pretty much the same age judging by your figures. I understand your point, I just don't entirely agree with it. To me supporters support the club, what ever its name.

To me it is the same club, just because we change ground (once so far in my time) Name (once so far in my time) or shirts (every effing season x2).

Thank God they haven't, if they decided to change the name no one in their right mind would appose it.

    It wasn't.

We have a name (Hull City) and a nickname (The Tigers).

To combine the two into one name is embarrassing and cheap.

Don't take my word for it- check the daily stream of writers condemning it.

This thread is a prime example why all the name change threads should be dumped into one place.

Boring as **** with the same old knob heads churning out the same old ****.

Castrol, could you get your tongue any further up Agrons arse?
