Sigurdsson isn't really a CM, rather an AM like Lallana who roams around trying to find gaps. He played either out wide or off the striker for Reading because they have always preferred a 442. All the youth teams and reserves/u21s play the 4231 with the free man and I think the first team will move towards this too, but what we have now is very much a 442 albeit with Adkins' stamp on it. Any team needs at least 2 central midfielders to avoid being dominated - 442, 451, 433, 424, 4231 each have their own merits, but a 415 will just end up an unbalanced, mis-shapen mess and the less said about the diamond the better. Hammond is very good at winning the ball and breaking up play. He'll have a role to play. Plonk him in to add an extra body in the middle to shut up shop or use him as a ball-winner to allow others more creative freedom. He knows how to slide tackle without getting sent off, which is a skill in itself in today's game.
Beginning to think about this thread! How about Park Ji Sung from Manchester United if said club were willing to let him go and he is willing to play for far less money whereever we are next season? Strikes me as the kind of player who would and if possible Kebe from Reading!! Definitely need more pace in defence and mobility in midfield. What struck me about Reading was their ability to interchange and double up quickly. Up front we have quite a lot of creativity.
its really hard to tell with orientals- he looks about 15, his energy is great- i think he is one of the most under rated players in the premiership
He's 31. He's lost a litte pace and tends to play more centrally than he used to. Still a class player with an awesome work ethic.
You have no chance in getting any of them,. If Saints mess this season up Adkins will be SACKED. Lambert will go for sure as will Lallana. Without those 2 Saints will struggle next season. But Back on planet earth If you do go up rumours about Scott Danns from Blackburn, Kevin Doyle and Steven Fletcher from Wolverhampton are far more realistic.

Err... Adkins won't be sacked as he has a phenomenal rapport with the chairman and has his full backing. Lallana won't go anywhere as he loves the club and wants to play prem with us. All the players i've stated would love to come to us as we will soon have the best training facilities in the country, we can pay the wages and will be living in a nicer part of the country. We've already been in for Rodriguez but wouldn't pay the stupid money Burnley wanted in the summer, this will be reduced now, Burke and King would join as we could actually pay their wages without threat of going out of business. Brum need the cash. Whittingham's had enough of failure and would want to join a team on the up. Hobbs would be stupid not to join us given the opportunity... We're one of the biggest clubs in this league and have real pulling power,
dehumanisation, incredibly important. He is nothing but a commodity when traded and a number to the club.
A RW and RB are the priorities 'IMO'. As much as I like Davis, I think a better keeper would fill me with more confidence - I wince every time he kicks it. I'd also love to see another CM as classy as Morgan, although I appreciate they're hard to come by. It will be interesting to see if NA continues to play a 442 if we go up. I can't help thinking we'll be on the end of a few hidings if that's the case - a 4231 or 433 would be preferable 'IMO'.
Well he was convicted of sexual assault so I don't see the harm in that. If he signs, I'll love our club a little bit less.
