I'm bloody not. We invest too much emotional capital in the club for it to be that. OK, we could win the League and it wouldn't pay off our mortgages, but it would make us feel pretty damn good. Likewise relegation isn't going to **** up our lives, but it will certainly make us feel like ****e!
Logic? There is absolutely no logic applied to any NE football team. Mad, daft, passionate supporters with sore heads from head banging walls for so many, many fekin years..............
The next derby, which will be Tim Sherwood's second game in charge, will kickstart a miraculous run that somehow keeps you up
Great words. TBH going in on Monday mornings is always a little easier when Newcastle have won. It does genuinely make a difference to your life. Must be awesome supporting Man City et al
BC - we are at the beginning of our BSA revival - starting after international break - BSA has not had a full squad to choose from - injuries to key palyers and international duty absence - I honestly feel more positive than during our previous poor seasons - see where we are at end of Jan - if in the bottom 3 - might need to agree with you but ... until then just - big time
He won't be around mate. My money is on Sherwood to replicate his Spurs form and to keep you up (just)
I'll admit it was said tongue firmly in cheek. I thought the Sherwood thing might have given it away. Question though, if (big if) you go down, would you still want Allardyce as your manager?
Depends on what I see in between now and relegation. I've clearly stated our summer business stopped short of what was required and that will be the thing that takes us down if we drop. I still believe that. I also stated I didn't want Big Sam. So my judgement will come on performances not results and applies whether we stay up or not. I'm giving him a chance. It's the least he deserves and i know what to expect. It's going to be **** football but given the chance he could lay a very good foundation. It's too difficult a question to answer at the moment fella. One thing is for certain I don't want him here in 5 years. If he does lay a good foundation I hope the club recognise he can only take us so far.
I can't stand it in September and October either but it always rears it's ugly head. There's loads of time.
26 games would still be too few games to judge him on, and it won't be his fault if we do go down. On that basis I wouldn't be screaming to have him kicked out. Besides, he's signed a 2 year contract. He wouldn't have signed it without him having that eventuality on the table between him and ES. So yes, at this point in time, I'd keep him. Are there more suitable managers out there? Well we haven't found one yet, and no club has tried harder every season One of the biggest problems in English football is the lack of time managers are given to get the job done. Just look at the rumours around Monk right now. It's ridiculous. Fergie didn't get off to a good start did he, and look what he achieved there. I'm for giving him his full 2 years, either way, up or down, and let's give him the chance, and time, to see what he can do.
The manager's been here a few weeks and I remember how McClaren started. We have a decent, but disorganised & unmotivated squad that can be sorted out plus a transfer window coming up. I wonder how many of those who claim we're certs for relegation are putting money on it.
