kilkenny the next maradona stephen `iniesta`pearson Foster clearly is in the same mould as danny alves what a team we have
Well last time we were in L1 thats how it was and I for one enjoyed it 10 times more than I am enjoying this crap!
The real problem I think we now face is not relegation to League One. IT IS A SECOND CONSECUTIVE RELEGATION TO LEAGUE TWO AND POSSIBLY BEYOND UNLESS WE SORT OUT THE DISEASE THAT IS KILLING BRISTOL CITY FC!
Well said Cidered. Much as I dont think much of Rovers, i am concerned for our future if they were to be relegated out of the League. When I look at the Blue Square and teams like Grimsby, Luton and Stockport, its clear that many clubs of previous good standing can slip further and further. They probably all thought the same - a year in Div 2 and then we will be up again. Bradford have been saying it for years...
Sorry, but based on our performances I think League 1 is a tall ask for our current squad. All the clubs hopes rest on Championship status. Without it, the stadium goes, McInnes probably goes, numerous players go. There's no way Baldock and Davies will stick around for League 1 football. Also, there's no way we can live off of our academy. The purse strings would tighten and with our academy hopefuls we'll be in League 2 with the Gas... McInnes is a decent manager that is starting to struggle under the pressure. The ideal reaction would be against the players rather than the manager as no manager in our budget will turn this group into a consistent force. I've said it time and time again that we need to maintain our Championship status, and that we need a full academy revamp or our new stadium to lift the mood at Bristol City. We've got too many dark clouds above our heads at the moment and one bit of good news or hope off the pitch could lead to good performances on it.
I agree only part of your comment. 100% regarding staying in the championship and what would happen if we don't. As for Del being a decent manager, IMO not at this level. Way out of his depth and will only send us down mate.
I can't say that I disagree with you. I've always felt that McInnes was a gamble because his success was based in the Scottish game, which is a lower level than the Championship. He could've been an inspired signing, he could still be to be fair to him. I think we'll all appreciate that he's not the finished article and that things could turn around for us. Stranger things have happened in football. My main concern is who we'd replace McInnes with, and whether the club can afford to. I believe that we can't afford to sack him, which leads me to believe that we couldn't hire anyone better. Really, who would be able to take us out of this slump and build us into a force in the Championship with the money we currently have?
I wrote on a different article Ender expressing that if SL wants the dream, he needs to get his money out and spend it properly.....it's his big toy after all!
