Ray Wilkins has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 31st May, that Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez should build his team around Jonjo Shelvey, Andros Townsend and Jack Colback next season.

Townsend maybe, but the other two???

    Muppet.!

I think it depends - those 3 will be good in the Championship and as we wouldn't get much in relation to quality of replacements cost wise then we might as well keep them and rid ourselves of them if and when we go back up.

Townsend I still believe will stay at least until January and if we are not looking like being promoted he will be on his merry way!

With Aaron's on the other wing and potentially Lewis Cook and/or Will Hughes that would be a good English midfield for the Championship.

I think Shelvey and Colback alongside each other as two deep midfielders will work a treat. I think Mitrovic can work as a no 9 in this league, and Armstrong offers a good foil/alternative; for me it's about the three along the attack. Aarons one side, Townsend the other is pretty good - but our struggle is getting someone in as a CAM, cos every custodian we have for that spot is going to leave. Would Perez be any good?

We're going to need two competent players per position to win the league. That means we're effectively in need of around 6 or 7 players, depending what Rafa feels is competent. GK is fine, but we're short two CB's, one RB, one DM, one number 10-type and maybe a right side attacker and a CF. That's on the proviso we get shot of Colo, Taylor, Janmaat, Sissoko and Wijnaldum.

I spoke to Pards and he reckons we need another 4 left backs too.

    A Muppet generally.

On this occasion, he's just taking a punt and guessing what might happen, same as the fans as no one has any inkling what Rafa will or wont do..

On the basis of Tiote, Sissoko and Wijnaldum going I would have Colback as a back-up option with Anita and Shelvey in the middle. Quite a bit will change in the next couple of months and with Janmaat going Anita may be needed at RB.

For some reason I'm assuming Anita will stay AND I like him!

My Dad calls him, Ray-"Hooky Boots"-Wilkins, due to his shooting accuracy prowess in an England shirt.!!
