    That’s interesting, it’s ‘palle’ in Italian. I thought Finnish was one of those languages without any relationship with other European languages, like Basque and Hungarian.

    Yes, normally it is but some words have come from swedish laguage (in swedish language the ball=boll). Many finnish club names has pallo(ball) in their name like Helsingin Jalkapallo Klubi= HJK and Turun Palloseura=TPS. (Jalka=foot and pallo=Ball and Seura or Klubi =Club)
