Because it makes no sense to vote Obi on the basis of "if DMW is KGB then Obi definitely is too". If that's the case then we'll get Obi the following round.

All it does is make me think that you're KGB and you know DMW is Philby hence the reason you're trying to detract attention from him as you don't want your most powerful player eliminated.

We are making the same mistake over and over getting dragged into speculation. I am using the only reliable information available to us which is the voting.

I vote for MMS. He voted for Roland against ACS, he voted to get Tash out switching his vote from me to secure the kill, he tried to finger GCB who turned out to be MI5, he immediately voted to get rid of Less Than after Tash's identity was confirmed (who helped kill ACS), and unlike DT never attempted to explain his voting.

 

Guys if KGB thought DMW was Oleg they'd be voting for him. He's not Oleg hence their silence.

 

Obi would be the most powerful player if he was MI6.

However, I wasn't suggesting we vote for him - I think that would be a mistake too.

Can I make a suggestion that might be acceptable to you and to the other BI. It seems that my theory that this is a mistake is not only making you suspicious of me, but adding to the suspicion of DMW, Obi and Trev. Therefore, vote for me. At the same time I urge DMW to protect himself. This will allow you to see that I am MI5 and remove some of the suspicion from our most powerful players. It will also allow DMW to protect himself without fear of death. At the same time, even though it leaves Obi open to the threat of Assassination, he would be proved to be MI6 and we would learn enough to then protect DMW, and Trev from then on and to attack the players that Obi suspected.

In my opinion the most likely KGB are BTK, DPP, Pulp, DT and MMS.

So, how does voting for me sound GCB? It takes away the risk of me having selfish motives. If I am KGB then you kill another one and they don't have the numbers to support another loss easily. If I am MI5 and one of the other actions happens then you will learn a lot. It also gives our assassin the chance to pick off one of the more likely suspects.

 

I wont join in the above folly though.

It's logical, I'll give you that. However, why go to all the trouble of protecting DMW when you can't be certain he's Oleg?

It just makes me think he's Philby and that you're taking one for team KGB.

 

This does sound a good idea (sorry Neville). MI5 is much more expendable than Oleg and it would arguably shed equal light on this situation. What say you GCB?

 

This is also true... Though if we find out he is KGB and taking one for the team then Philby's reprieve would be short lived.

Then why not test your theory? Surely, there is already so much suspicion of me that it would be far easier to get enough votes to take me down and find out? If you are right then you are virtually guaranteed of winning because you will know who i was protecting. If this is what you believe then vote to kill me. You know it makes sense.

 

And then you have MMS who I agree does look suspicious, but if he turns out to be BI then we've lost another and learned nothing - he doesn't seem to have been 'close' to anyone in the manner of Obi, Trev, DMW and Neville.

Exactly. You have nothing to lose. Even if it resulted in 'Philby' DMW surviving tonight then he could not kill off enough BI to protect himself from death the following night. If I was taking one for team KGB then "we'd" be losing two in two nights.

I will be taking one for the team. That will prove to be team GB though. (posthumous payments in rep welcome, for the sake of my family)

I'd prefer to stay in and help kill off the real KGB, but if this is what it takes.....

 

But if we vote off Less Than and he's MI5 then we learn NOTHING about DMW and will be in the same position next round.

As stated, Less Than can't be certain that DMW is Oleg so we'd be losing an MI5 agent to have exactly the same predicament next time around.

 

This game is turning me into a paranoid creature. I'll be casting dark glances at people I meet throughout the day, wondering if they have hidden agendas...

GCB, why are you so certain it was not another KGB who offed you to strip away BI leadership?

Because.......

Firstly, if Obi is only claiming to be MI6 and is really KGB, then how did he know that Tash had been told that DMW was Oleg Lyalin? If DMW is not Lyalin then Tash would only have been told that as the result of a Maclean. The KGB have no way of knowing who was investigated, and even if they did they would have no way of knowing what answer JPF would give them once the Maclean was played. The chances of Obi guessing that DMW was investigated and then guesiing that JPF had told him that DMW was Lyalin is miniscule.

Secondly, Obi investigated DMW the same night that Tash investigated me. They have both stated the order they investigated. I know Tash was fed a Maclean so I know that Obi can't have been. I appreciate that only I can be certain of this point though.

Thirdly, it it isn't Obi then why the hell hasn't the third real MI6 come forward and said, "actually...."

Fourthly, why did Me, DMW and Trev all vote out ACS when the numbers were stacked against us?
