Taking sense about anything Rangers related to Eddie is a pointless exercise Christoph. It doesn't matter that N-Patz transfer isn't just good for Rangers but for all of future Scottish football transfer fees. He will never, ever, ever concede a positive response to anything "Sevco".

But as previously stated to you, Rangers are starting in a worse position than Celtic in the sellars market. Celtic had years and many established sales before KT to build up to that amount. They sold bigger talents (VVD) for half that price just a few years before (The market in that time hadn't increased 100%) because they were able to prove their players they'd trained could cut it in a higher league. KT has also played in the CL and had 150 senior appearances. Rangers need to set a base line like you did with Forester, Wanyama and VVD and Patterson does that (with 130+ less senior appearances and worse European experience) and when he proves himself, which I personally think he will as i highly rate him, When they sit at the table next to sell Aribo, Kent or Kamara, they will be able to get a couple more million on that deal because of this Patterson one. They need to start somewhere and this is a phenominal place for them to start as it sets a president for future sales while not disturbing their first team (with a 6 point lead) in a season where the riches at the end are mammoth.

Reality is, whether Rangers fans want to admit this or not, is that Celtic have basically printed the Blueprint of what Rangers need to do. Buy, produce, improve and then sell assets and repeat. Rangers are just doing this now for the first time since what happened and they need to start somewhere. IMHO their first deal in starting this process has been brilliant and will pay huge dividends in the future ones.

 

If Tav is just a set piece taker and that has lead Rangers to a 6 point lead then it won't be hard to replace him at all for cheap surely?

Why do they need a £20m right back when a £275k set piece taker is leading them to two titles in a row?

The last Sub Celtic sold to the EPL was Armstrong to Southampton. He was an established International and they only got £7m for him.

But it's all relative. I've been harsher than anyone on here about Rangers finances. They had to set a baseline and did it with a player that won't interrupt their push for this massive title and it sets a standard for sales that will happen in the summer. Even if he goes for more later, which i think he will, you will never convince me that this isn't a cracking deal for Rangers. It's more than i ever thought they could demand and sets the moving into the Celtic buy(make) cheap/sell for more.
