the old front was much better visually and should have remained in place , even if they could only utilise the facade

 

when was that demolished?

 

Rangers managed to keep their facade when they built the new stand and added the club deck much later.

Also an Archibald Leitch btw. One of the very few remaining.

 

Tbf it was the polish on a big giant turd. The rest of the stadium was a disgrace.

the main stand remains as part of original stadium (its protected from demolition) but its roof does need beams to support it in bad weather due to poor construction...

I like the facade at Ibrox

the other 3 sides from outside are horrendous looking

the new one could have been awesome if finished ie plastered walls inside etc and spent money on the finish etc

Aye it needs a good jet wash. I think they did a lot of work on it during the lockdown but there's only so much you can do to 80s styling. They were horrendous when they opened them tbf.

 

Aye the main stand looks amazing but when the club deck was added you can see all the columns, bracing, staircases n **** thro the windows which doesn’t look great.

 

It does from the height. Not so great at ground level.

 

Did they not demolish it for their 101st anniversary in 1988?

It was built in a hurry on a limited budget and wasn't supposed to last as long as it has so...

 

I took this photo a few seasons ago love Carrow Road it's a bit mix and match as they keep doing up a stand at a time and filling in the corners they plan to add another few thousand.

 

Also the blue n red “poster” on the windows (broomloan) look cheap and tacky as ****

highlights the ****ey bricks

Can you no design some cladding for them!

 

I'm not buying that pish that "it was built on the cheap and about to fall down".

I think it was built on a budget, most building are, and was maybe not finished well but the notion that it will fall down or only has a shelf life of a few decades is right up there with Globe Earth theory and the moon landings.
