@Lochrie I agree, there is no merit to being awarded Champions this season, even if it was mathematically impossible, clubs can still be deducted points etc

Is that basically the only difference? That the SPFL are only going to pay out if they can name Champions/Relegated etc and Rangers want the money paid out and the league avoided?

Surely it can't be that simple? Will the sponsers and TV pay out on an uncompleted season?

I haven't been following it tbh, some amount of spastics follow the old firm so its hard to find out what the actual truth is and I'm not reading through mountains of ****e.

Rangers stance from the start is that they want the league played to a finish, its fans that are wanting the league made null and void but the club has never said anything along those lines.

Rangers statement the other day was basically saying that a lot of clubs in Scotland will struggle to get by from now until any resumption without any money coming in, which is obvious really, so prize money could be handed out as an advance to help clubs get by.

Obviously that statement was jumped on by the rabids with the usual Rangers are skint stuff, which may well be true, but lets be honest prize money in Scotland isn't very good. Even if Rangers were desperate and skint the prize money is hardly likely to help much, but it could help a lot of lower league clubs.

 

They want the league played to a finish but they've torn their pitch up.

Football is nowhere near being restarted, could still be 2-3 months away. A new pitch would be done by then.

The season won't ever be resumed though, you even say so yourself are we not better pulling the plaster off and making a decision? The spfl have also said that Rangers' proposal isn't legally sound.

My take is that the teds are playing to the gallery. 'We tried' will be the mantra and they will collect their £2.5m. Prize money for lower clubs isn't worth talking about.

 

Personally am no bothered, as I said last week am past caring and just give Celtic the title.

As a club though Rangers can't really say anything other than what they have. Fans wouldn't accept them giving up on this season so they need to be seen to be fighting it.

The league will be decided on current standings, nothing else can happen.

When Rangers were playing in the lower leagues they were playing in front of full houses. Celtic had to close half their stadium.

All prize monies for the four leagues should be evenly distributed between all the clubs. There are no champions or second, third, last.

If 4-6 weeks down the line the season cannot be finished then current standings should determine who are champions. Until UEFA declare the season abandoned and current standings will be used in next seasons CL and EL there is no point in considering calling the Premier league just now.

Just for once the greedy ****s in the top league should to take the hit for the greater good.
