Is the Catholic Church on Ireland still a thing?

I thought they got abandoned because of the horrible shìt they done for centuries.

 

How on earth could they have done it for centuries considering it was illegal to be a Catholic until the 1820s or there abouts. What happened was that when the Brits left the 26 the only system in place was the Parish system so the new Government effectively handed the place over to the church as they had the schools, hospitals etc.

But aye the church is done here, if it wasn't for European and Filipino immigrants they'd be close to having to shut up shop.
