I agree - seem to recall TWS getting two hammerings in the final few games when they won the old First Div title (the year before the PL wwas set up) One of my concerns with the playoff lottery is the very results we have just had at the hands of Bolton and Palarse.. hopefully if it comes down to the playoffs we don't make these sort of mistakes in the first away semifinal say otherwise the whole season will be in tatters... If nothing else serious lessons to be learnt..
First time i've seen them highlights- how the **** is the second a penalty? Even they played on. Piss take! Zaha's celebration looks like he's spazing out.
This is what a Palace fan said on their forum: Reading the comments from the Hull fans I have one message To obtain or stand any chance of being awarded a penalty you need to be inside the box and have quality quick, intelligent players to achieve this. This is something that you didnt do last night On another note to all at Hull. Stop hacking down the opposition players and try, like us, to play fast flowing entertaining football This is by far the best palace side I have seen in many years and (In my humble opinion)if we dont get promoted automatically then we will only have ourselves to blame. We are that good....
Some proper magic on that forum... "Palace are without doubt the best side in the Championship by far this season" "I think Cardiff will come first but I really can't call second between us and Watford." "AT HOME we probably have the best attack in the country" - !!!!!! Unbelievable jeff... "We have without doubt the 2nd best team in the league. It showed tonight how strong we really are. I say 2nd because Cardiff have dragged out some very good results away from home when maybe a draw at best was on the cards for them. Saying that Cardiff have a tendency to loose there bottle when push comes to shove and i believe they will again. Therefore i believe we will finish top as the best team in the league overall for the season. Hull's defeat tonight to a better side will damage there drive for promotion, as it will question there overall ability. There are a few factors here. Cardiff loose there bottle...... Which i believe they will........ Hull realise that they dont deserve it and question how good they really are......... Watford like us will go up automatically... Lets just hope they are 2nd and we win championship" And people on here think WE get too carried away off the back of a win? **** me have you seen this lot? They're worse than the Leeds fans....
Honestly I've been saying this all season and it isn't just a reaction to last night: Palace really aren't that good. I still consider Watford and Leicester bigger threats to us, although Leicester do seem to be dropping further away with every week. I haven't been impressed with Palace all season though (admittedly I don't watch them every match) if you take out the 14 penalties (or even reduce it to a fair figure like every other team get) how many points would that cost them? A **** load I would suggest. We're a better side than them and so are Cardiff, that's why we've been ahead of them for the last however many months. We've just finally got an attack sorted and it's starting to compliment our good football to actually see us scoring some goals. The goals conceded won't last, we've got one of the best defences in the league anyway and have done for years, we'll sort it out at the back I'm sure of that.
Hopefully the next 6 days break and pressure of knowing watford will have played before us will help sort it out and get us back on track, 3 wins out of the next 4 aslong ones against watford is doable.. Draw in one of the games against burnley or hudders.. Utt
You are right. Saw you outthink us at vicarage road - very clever approach and deserved the win. WFC have got steadily better, and I think Hull & us are best 2 sides but Cardiff may have just enough already, ( and campbell is a clever capture). We both have to play them - your last game of season could be quite tense! (we've got Leeds, might be very messy). I thought Leicester would be main threat, not sure now. Kiss of death to us would be Manager of month or feb (we have best record). I do think Palarse have the players to win penalties deservedly, so can't comment on how many are deserved. I don't think they will get 1st or 2nd - even with Phillips - best player we've let go! Our game at KFC ( is that name right?) will be crucial. From my experience (esp. a sorry 3-0 loss in playoffs) it has the best atmosphere of any ground, which should help you. All of top 6 still have 3 of others in top 8 to play, except Palarse now, think they have 2. Anbody playing boro gets a bonus win! (except Cardiff -weird). also, anybody playing Peterboro has absolitely no idea what will happen - they certainly fdon't. Good luck for rest - just finish behind WFC please.
It's the KC, can't tell if that was a joke or not. We actually beat you 4-1 in the playoffs, making it 6-1 on aggregate. Henderson scored an early goal for you to pull the aggregate back to 2-1 and we were **** scared at that point! The 3-0 was in the league a few weeks before. The atmosphere was amazing that night in the playoffs, but it hasn't been anywhere near as good as that again since we got relegated from the PL. I think people just haven't been as excited as they were back then but this season is gradually starting to make people believe again like we did in 2008.
Enjoyable read, but I feel the need to correct you on a couple of points. We have three players - Zaha, Bollassie and Williams (little blonde lad that ran the game in case you don't know) who run at defenders with pace. You hacked them down at every opportunity outside the box - do that in the penalty area and you get what you deserve. To be fair, I have no idea what the second pen was for? You weren't the first team to come to Selhurst and try and bully us of the pitch, which is a fair enough tactic if it works - we did it for ten years in our heyday (late 80s/early 90s) - but when it doesn't, don't moan. FWIW I thought you looked a decent side (missing a play-making spark perhaps though) and slaughtered us at yours, but got what you deserved last night. Oh and leave South London alone - KUH is hardly salubrious is it?
Bully you off the pitch?! In case you didn't know before last night we were top of the fair play league, we couldn't bully a team if we tried "You weren't the first team to come to Selhurst and try and bully us of the pitch" Why don't you look at it from the other teams point of view, your team were pathetic and throwing themselves down at every opportunity, do you not think its a coincidence that you think every team that has gone to ****hurst and tried to 'bully' you?
I really can't make sense of your last paragraph? I said "you weren't the first team" - not all teams. I don't think I've seen so many cycnical fouls committed in such a short space of time (1st 20 mins) that have gone unpunished - you were lucky to still have 11 on the pitch at the end. We've lost less and scored more goals at home than any other team in the division and battered you last night. Most palace fans thought that last night was going to be our toughest test of the season so far based on your reputation, but like Cardiff, Boro, Brighton, Leicester etc you didn't live up to the hype. Let's be honest, it's you, us or Watford for 2nd, let's see how it pans out... By the way - were you there last night?
10 Game league starts now. Bet we finish higher than Watford and Palace. Cardiff could proper bottle it now, us and Watford will push each other so hard they will finish 3rd. Palace? If they had 10 games at home they'd walk it on pens...they don't though.
