Amazing! I can now say I have played against a team that QPR have played against, the brilliantly named Crouch End Vampires. Back in the mid 80s I played a handful of games for Witan, the GLC works team in the Southern Amateur League and one of them was against the Vampires...

I played for Witan 1981-3 and remember loosing to C E Vampires away in a cup game, I wonder?

My games were around the abolition time, 85 or 86. Never really fitted in as it was a bit cliquey. Their cricket teams were ultra competitive but I played in their 3rd team which was more like a drinking club, much more my scene...
Super facilities and ground I wonder what it is now? I played thirds but not so cliquey then as you found later.

I'm not sure but they may still be running. Many of the GLC sports clubs continued after abolition. The Chess Club moved to the Civil Service Recreation Centre and the facilities there were unbelieveable until it closed in 2006. The Chess Club continues independently in Bloomsbury.

Were you based in County Hall? I was with ILEA Estab 5B which was Education Maintenance and based in DO9 Lambeth and DO8 Southwark before being transferred to Southwark 1990...

Another good interview on the Official, this time with Jordan Hugill. Apparently he has been carrying an injury all season, taking anti-inflamatory shots before games and training to get him through them. There were plans to operate in International breaks but he has finally had it done in this Covid 19 long break. What it was exactly I didn't pick up with his accent and noise around me, and will have to play it again. But he has done well to play as well as he has through all that.

That was good Os, I enjoyed that interview. Hugill comes across as a generally nice person.

34 years ago and I still have my Red White and Blue QPR flag that I bought on the day. :emoticon-0100-smile

Shame, but hate to say it, we've been better at the back without him

Think it was more that we improved when Barbet came in. Hall’s form picked up a bit when he realised his contract was running down but give me Leistner over Hall any day. Doubt we’ll see either again.
