If he likes Greek mythology so much, he should be tied to a rock and let crows eat his liver whilst alive every day for the rest of his eternal life. As we all say "if it's good enough for Prometheus its good enough for a common thief"

The rapper Macklemore was due to perform in October
US rapper Macklemore has cancelled his upcoming October show in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, over the country's alleged role in the deadly conflict in Sudan.

He said people had for months been asking him to call off the concert in solidarity with the Sudanese people "and to boycott doing business in the UAE for the role they are playing in the ongoing genocide and humanitarian crisis in the region".

The rapper cited the UAE's reported support for the Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has been battling the Sudanese army.

"Until the UAE stops arming and funding the RSF I will not perform there," he said in a post on Instagram.

Neither the Dubai city nor the UAE government have commented on Macklemore's statement.

In June, the UAE denied accusations it was fuelling the conflict as "disinformation", saying its focus was on alleviating the humanitarian crisis in the country.

Sudan's ambassador to the UN, Harith Idriss al-Harith Mohamed, had said that the UAE's financial and military support to the RSF was the "main reason behind this protracted war".

But the UAE said this was a "ludicrous allegation" coming from the Sudan representative, "representing the armed forces, one of the warring parties".

Since the fighting began in April last year, thousands of people have been killed and 10 million forced to flee their homes.

The war has sparked the world's worst hunger levels on record, according to the UN-accredited Integrated food security Phase Classification (IPC).

Both sides have been blamed for atrocities but the RSF has been accused of carrying out a genocide against the non-Arabic population in parts of the western region of Darfur which it largely controls. It has denied the accusation, blaming local militias.

A number of talks aimed at ending the 16-month war have so far failed, with the rival factions still fighting for control of the country, worsening the humanitarian crisis.

Macklemore said in his statement on Saturday that he took the decision because "the current situation in Sudan is urgent, horrific and it's going largely unnoticed globally".

It was also inspired by the Israeli-Hamas war happening in Gaza, he says, noting that the plight of the Palestinian people "has woken the world up".

The Grammy-winning artist's latest song, Hind's Hall, pays tribute to a girl who was killed in Gaza.

He has in the past released music addressing social issues, including drug addiction, consumerism and gay rights.

He says he is not judging other stars who perform in the UAE, which often hosts major international artists and sporting events.

"But I do ask the question to my peers scheduled to play in Dubai: If we used our platforms to mobilise collective liberation, what could we accomplish?" he added.

Former QPR legend (in the loosest sense of the term) and now a player for @Steelmonkey’s local team The Ton, Jay Emmanuel Thomas, has been nicked as the ‘mastermind’ when his wife was arrested at Stansted with £600k worth of weed in her baggage.

Never the sharpest tool in the box, but a tool nevertheless. If he lives in Greenock he can probably argue that it was for personal use, a way to escape the grim reality.

MORTON striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been charged in connection with the seizure of cannabis worth an estimated £600,000 at a London airport

The 33-year-old, of Cardwell Road in Gourock, was detained and questioned by National Crime Agency (NCA) officers after around 60kg of the drug was detected by Border Force in suitcases which had arrived on a flight from Bangkok on September 2.

He has been remanded in custody and is expected to appear before Carlisle Magistrates' Court later today, accused of importing class B drugs.

The NCA arrested Emmanuel-Thomas on Wednesday morning following an investigation supported by Police Scotland.

The Telegraph understands he was not present at a club training session on Wednesday.

His detention followed the arrest of two women, aged 28 and 32, at Stansted Airport on September 2.

After being questioned by the NCA, both were charged with drug importation offences

They appeared before Chelmsford Magistrates' Court and were bailed to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on October 1.

David Phillips, NCA senior investigating officer, said: “The NCA continues to work with partners like Border Force to target those involved in drug smuggling – that includes both the couriers and the organisers.

“We would appeal to anyone who is approached to engage in any kind of smuggling to think very carefully about the likely consequences of their actions, and the potentially life-changing risks they will be taking.”

Emmanuel-Thomas came through Arsenal’s academy and made five appearances for the senior team before moving to Ipswich Town in 2011.

He has since spent time at clubs including Bristol City, Queens Park Rangers and Thai side PTT Rayong.

The London-born player signed for Morton from Kidderminster Harriers in the July, having previously enjoyed spells in the Scottish Premiership at Aberdeen and Livingston.

A Morton spokesperson said: "The club is aware of an ongoing matter relating to one of our first team players which has been publicised by various media outlets.

"The club is currently awaiting further information from the relevant bodies and due to the nature of the situation, we will be unable to make any comment beyond this statement at this time."

It may have been a Bridge to Far, but Operation Market Garden is still celebrated by the Airborne Forces that took part.

80 years on and their modern descendants carried out a re-enactment yesterday :emoticon-0165-muscl:emoticon-0165-muscl AIRBORNE!!!

Watch: Hundreds of paratroopers leap to mark daring WW2 offensiveClose

Eighty years after hundreds of Allied soldiers parachuted from military aircraft into Nazi-occupied Netherlands as part of a daring World War Two offensive, their modern equivalents repeated the jump in commemoration.

In an airborne spectacular, 700 paratroopers from eight Nato nations - including the Netherlands, Germany, the UK and the US - parachuted from 12 aircraft.

The jump was done in two waves, and those involved landed at the same location at Ginkel Heath, near the Dutch town of Ede.

Among them were members of the parachute display team, the British Red Devils.

The airdrop is one of several events organised to mark the anniversary of Operation Market Garden, an ambitious military offensive designed to speed up the invasion of Nazi Germany and shorten the war in Europe

Don't think this is real. Seems like a pretty disreputable source and not reported anywhere else as far as I can see.
