Northern Soul mate. It's what hooked me in to soul and then funk. Completely switched my taste in music. All Northern soul is high tempo. Basically most of the high tempo soul songs in the US failed with the yanks more favoring the slower motown, but brits started going over to the US and bring these awesome up tempo unsold vinyls and started putting dance nights on in Northern England which triggered a giant non commercial movement.

To be honest mate id heard of Northern soul but i didnt know what it was.
It sounds right up my street.

Lets not forget soft cell. What a song

I'm bang into my groove at the moment which is basically 80s soul, but a lot of ventures right into electro and I'm really enjoying that too and a lot of 80s pop, stuff like Soft Cell. Soft Cell actually covered a Northern Soul classic

If your girl likes to dance and so do you there's regular nights all over the region. Bet there's one round your way. I know there's a funk night so defo a northern soul. Problem with Northern soul nights are the venues, so oftern in dirty social clubs. But it's best enjoyed in ball rooms. Center Stage dancfloor and acoustics which bounce the sound around rather than absorb the sound waves adds to the rawness.

It's under a revival with young uns getting bang into it.
