I don't recall calling it Leicesteristan to be fair. (sic) Plenty places are proud of such associations, Little Italy, ChTown etc and Leicester proclaim their pride in the local culture. I struggle to see how someone pointing out something they're proud if is an insult, simply because they feel it's meant as one. That's the logic of a nursery playground and playing straight into the hands of those seemingly trying to wind them up. They should look to Hartlepool making Angus the Monkey the Mayor or the welsh and the sheepshagger chant for the best way of dealing with such things.
