O dear I really have no reply to that mate I couldve sworn you just compared nunez to keegan and best? Ive watched everyone of Nunez games and hes ineffective 10% of the time, Warnock transfer listed him because he doesn't want him and hes only played him in the pre season games to add a bit of experience to the youngsters along with Billy Paynter
In terms of size & weight, the three of them are about the same. Clearly Nunez will have to go a bit to emulate either player. Probably won't happen with Leeds. But someone may just get a bargain.
Warnock needs a Taarabt, but is clueless at recognizing proper footballing talent, he's just good for spotting grafters. After selling Snodgrass, I suspect he'll have an attacking line-up of: Becchio White - Varney - Nunez Norris - Austin Yeah, it looks seriously ****, doesn't it? We need a proper scouting team and a director of football so we have a proper footballing philosophy at the club. Let Warnock do the shouting and stuff.
So youve chosen to ignore Warnocks comments about signing new strikers and want him out before weve even played 1 league game? nice patience there
I want him out of transfers, yes. His track record is poor. We don't need new strikers - we already have three great ones in Becchio, McCormack and Somma. The only reason we'd need a new one is if we stupidly get blinded by money again and lose our top scorer. We need at least two of the 4-2-3-1's '3' and a playmaker to play alongside Norris/Green/Austin/Brown/Pugh in the '2'. And I seriously doubt we'll strengthen properly there.
You can put absolutely ANY striker that is currently playing in the Championship in place of Becchio and it would be ****. I am okay with Norris and Austin although I am basing that thought on what I 'hope' rather than what I have seen but the three supporting attackers, oh dear... I can see what others are saying that we will be harder to beat but what if we go 1-0 down, where will we get two goals from. Hull were hard to beat and had a great defence last year, did they get promoted...
Did you edit your comment? im 100% i am sure i saw an underlined 'warnock out' at the bottom? and i would agree, but i think we are going to be playing hoofball so creativity in midfield is less important
The most frustrating thing is people's insistence that we flog off our existing flair players (Clayton, McCormack, Snodgrass) and cash in on them so we can make replacements just for the sake of it. When has Warnock ever himself scouted and signed a creative talent? Because his phonebook is all our scouting department currently consists of, and that fills me with dread. If we'd tried harder to keep our top players, we could be lining up like this next season. Becchio White - McCormack - Snodgrass Clayton - Austin Drury - Lees - Pearce - [Peltier] Kenny As it is, our front six is half that strong at best. WARNOCK OUT... of transfers. Even hoofball needs good players to make it work. Faurlin and Taarabt were essential to QPR in their promotion season. Without them, they'd never have got auto promotion just playing 'ack and 'oof.
Warnock has his own combative playing style. He is no rogers/lambert/poyet etc. he fills his team with solid, hard working players that are hard to beat. when he came in we knew this already so theres no point moaning now. however at qpr he did centre his team around the creative flair of taarabt. so lets wait and see if he brings anyone like that in this year
Hes hardly guna say 'oh yeah i need a new player cos varney isnt good enough to play there' is he? demolish his confidence already!
He didn't have to come out and say Luke Varney was the player though, did he? I don't think anyone thought he was going to be, even Varney, but clearly he is because Warnock actually went out of his way to say he was.
Think it might have been a warning to us not to expect too much mate. Be realistic, even with £3M who would NW be able to bring in, what other team is showing a lack of ambition by selling their best players? I am reserving judgement until I see these Marquee signings, personally I don't believe they are out there for an affordable price. Name any winger who we could get for £3M, a player another team is willing to sell?
Agreed here isnt too many available. But if one pops up i dont doubt that NW will snap him up Incidentally peltier is gunna cost us £800k if we want him, so that would be half the snods money gone
I'm happy to wait and see, but I'm getting my suspicions in early that he's not going to do that. And I think all the evidence is pointing in that direction. And when he came in, I was wary: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/127687-Anyone-Else-Worried?p=2383563&viewfull=1#post2383563 http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/127673-The-Signings-Begin?p=2381106&viewfull=1#post2381106 So it's not like I've suddenly had this knee-jerk reaction after seeing the summer pan out. I've always expressed my doubts about his vision.
I like to be optomistic. But if it gets to the season and we have no creative players..il be devastated
Sone Aluko went to Hull on a free, that would have been our best chance. Personally I think we have too many Portsmouth players, however I would have been happy to see Warnock forget about Varney and Norris and sign Halford instead, would have cost peanuts and use the £800K towards a quality midfielder.
