I think the only reason we were busy was that we had to sell to buy. Net total was -17mill. We received more money than we spent. I can't see that being the case this summer (I bloody well hope not anyway).

Wouldn’t surprise me if that money was eaten up in signing on fees and wages for the new players. After all we lost 4 players (Ings, Vestergaard, Gunn, Lemina) and brought in 6 so you would think that the wage bill may have increased.

As I mentioned before one of the key things for me this summer is that the only players most would REALLY want to keep are under contract for quite some time. This should mean that if we do sell them it would be for mega money. If that happens then we may make a profit again but ideally we keep them and the owners allow us to spend similarly to the other 10th-15th placed teams

The common consensus at the time was that we had a solid and astute transfer window, Tino and Perraud have added quality to the full back department but AA hasn't been a success while Lyanco hasn't played enough to make an informed judgement but was probably signed as a back up.
The Broja loan has been a success on the whole but signing Theo was clearly a big mistake.

Yeah I remember thinking that we definitely had added depth and that was what we were craving at the time. But goals were also peoples concern, losing Ings and many were (rightly as it turned out) wondering where the goals would come from.

Overall depth of squad improved but first team took a step back would be my summary

I guess that Broja turned out to be the Ings replacement.

Well yeah, which wasn’t the expected outcome in the summer, on here anyway. He still has less than 50% of the goals Ings scored last season though I think?

We need a new striker (maybe 2 with both Long and Broja likely to be leaving) this summer which is my main concern really as they tend to cost loads. Have to wait and see if the new owners are able to stump up the cash.

Danny had 13, Broja has scored 9, Che has chipped in with 8 and JWP has scored 9.

Ideally we need two strikers that can get to double figures and not have to rely on just the one. AA may still come good as Che took time to settle in his first season but I agree that we will need at least one more if Broja doesn't sign for another season.

Meant PL goals for Broja/Ings. Broja has 6 and Ings got 12

Yeah think one is a must, be that Broja or someone else. The Long spot in the squad could be taken by an academy player potentially if there is anyone they feel is ready.

I always like to have 2 players for every position ideally, if we only have 3 strikers and are playing 2 most games then an injury and we could be in trouble

I get your point and Danny has only scored 7 this season for Villa but we do need to get a reliable 10+ PL goals a season striker.

Che got 9 in 36 in the PL last season so that's not far off and he's scored 7 from 28 games this season so he's doing ok. Broja has the potential to score 15+ but it's highly unlikely that he will be scoring them for us.

A number 10 that scores a little more regularly than the ones we have would be nice to add to the mix and take a little bit of pressure off the strikers too.

Yes easy path to follow 1. Identify the target(s) 2. Agree an affordable fee 3. Agree affordable terms and conditions 4. Cough for the doc 5. Sign the contract. Just like that, Bobs yer uncle job done. Next a centre back and goalkeeper plus some inspirational coaches and worldwide recruiting team.

It would be great if Tyler Dibling burst into the team next season Alan Shearer like but that's putting a lot of pressure on the kid.

I guess that Mo El is the one most likely to and I hope that he continues to improve next season.

I'd like to see him get some minutes before the end of the season. Dom Ballard a breakthrough possibility and hoping for more from Nathan Tella.

I didn't expect anything from Lucy, so he has been a surprise package. He has 4 goals in the league this season, 8 in total and with a team that is playing well around him I do feel as though he is capable of scoring more. Stu has 2 in the league, 3 total which is poor from him. Redmond 0 in the league 2 total. Tella has 0 in the league 1 total and nothing from Walcott, Djenepo or Smallbone albeit with minimal playing time. If we can unload Walcott, Djenepo and Redmond and bring in one replacement that can improve on our first team and score 4 or 5 goals that should help.
