Does that mean Sterling didnt feel tired? Nothing to do with money

Hodge probably asked how he felt and he gave an honest answer

And Christian has the nerve to call us ******ed <laugh>

A tramps muscle will feel tired after too much exercise

A millionaires muscle will feel tired after too much exercise

Nothing to do with any personal wealth or if the tramp is playing on the park or if the millionaire is playing for England

    It's really quite simple

And you think he only runs on match days? They train every day too......
He probably covers between a third and a half those miles every day in training too.

If any of your mates can run upwards of 130 miles over a month and NOT be tired, then they need to sign up for Rio 2016 mate

As does every other player on the pitch with him!! I bring you back to what I said before - he is a professional athlete. He gets paid to be physically fit enough to play when called upon.

Maybe I'm being a bit too conservative here but merely being 'tired' shouldn't be an excuse for anybody <laugh>.

I think you're being a tad unrealistic with how much he runs per month too by the way.

Mate I know he is professional athlete, but the kid has run the equivalent of 5 marathons worth of distance in 30 days.......
Athlete or no, the human body has limits.

I dare say even Paula Radcliffe would struggle to handle that amount.

But that's his job lol. Woy should never have said what he did people are making out like he refused to play, when all he done was told Woy is he don't feel 100% and it is 100% Woys responsibility so he can't try blame the player. Maybe mentally his head isn't in football at the moment because the pressure is all on him at the moment at Liverpool to carry the team

Maybe not, ill do the proper math......hold on...
On his average of 6.29 Miles per game x 7 , 4 Liverpool games, 3x England games (friendly plus 2 qualifiers)
Thats around 106.9 miles in the last 35 days.

So a little off but thats still over 4 marathons in a little over a month.

He works 90 minutes a day. He's then recovering and restin etc for the other 22:30 hours of the day, abd he thinks he should be on 100,000 a week? For that sort of money I'd happily run around every day until my balls fell off.
Not to mention the ice baths and recovery drinks etc to repair and refuel the body.

He doesnt work 90 minutes a day ffs!!
Footballers train EVERY day.......for more than 90 minutes.
Sometimes, when having a late kick off, they even go in for light training in the morning....

You think footballers just turn up on matchdays, play 90 minutes and collect 100k per week? <doh>

I don't think this is about Sterling being tired and not wanting to play I think it's down to match management and being sensible about what the body can take, if England and Liverpool want this lad to develop then they need to ensure that he develops physically in the right way. Sterling could have played but may well have been injured doing so, why take that chance?

We all would but if we wanted to develop and get better and get paid even more we would all manage that aswell.

Look, I aint saying footballers are not over paid, they are, everyone knows that, but thats a completely separate issue and irrelevant in this case.

Im not also solely blaming England for him being tired. Both Liverpool and England have been overly reliant on a boy of 19 due to a lack of quality players to replace him, and both are guilty of working him into the ground.
    The points im contesting are

    a) He is well within his rights to tell the manager his tired, because he must be
    b) Hodgson shouldn't be blabbing these conversations to the press to try deflect attention off himself for ****ty performances.

Maybe they should take him off the training if he's tired in between matches rather than working him all the way through.

With respect to an athelete, Tennis players and Basketball players play more games consistently compared to footballers. I don't see them dying from too much work.

I don't have a problem with Sterling saying he was too tired. So what if he was, the squad should be good enough to beat Estonia without him.

What I do have a problem with is the way virtually EVERY media pundit and commentator has come to his defence (and that of Liverpool) when they did the exact fcking opposite when Rio Ferdinand pulled out 18 months ago due to injury. He was ripped to shreds and treated like a fcking traitor after years of service for his country. Could you imagine the witch hunt if this was a United player under the Fergie era. Worse still, could you imagine if said player then played the following weekend in the Prem, like Sterling I'm sure will (and why shouldn't he). I think this would be the way the media would tackle players of most clubs, particularly United. But as Liverpool seem to be the darlings of the media, EVERY one in the media is coming to his defence. Not just a few, or the majority, every one lol. The double standards are a bit of a joke.

Male tennis players play 2.5 - 4 hour matches every other day during a tournament. They get about a week off before the next tournament starts. Their season runs from January through to December!

She wouldn't struggle at all but it's a poor comparison as she trains to run marathons so will cover 10km+ during a light training run.

Sterling plays about 7 matches a month. That's 70km in distance covered. He won't be doing much intensive running during training sessions, call it 3km a day (I suspect less). So that's about another 70km a month, so 140km in total, only half of that intensive running.

I've never been much of an athlete as I enjoy the finer things in life too much but I used to do 4 x 10km runs a week after work, so about 160km a month and I didn't get 14 hours a day to rest! I didn't feel tired, on the contrary I felt fit and healthy. I feel tired now. Maybe I should start running again!
