"If you carry on the way you're going, by the time you're 17 you'll either be in prison or playing for England."
We all heard that message at school at one time or another, I'm sure - but that is what Raheem Sterling's teacher Chris Beschi told the youngster a few years ago.
He had a very promising debut tonight, did Raheem. Read the full interview with his former teacher here.

Sterling had a really good game tonight.

He still has a lot to learn. But we have got some thing special in Sterling.

It was Ibrahimovic v England. Ibrahimovic won - comfortably.

I'd like to see some better quality replays of his scissor kick, but it doesn't look like he shinned or kneed it to me. Looks like laces through it all the way. Stunning finish. Yet another game that exposed his class. He can be found wanting in some games, but this wasn't one of them!

Fair play to the boy! <ok>

Thought Sterling was average in general. Some good parts and some poor. For the best imo, so hopefully he doesn't get carried away with things.

  10. I wouldn't stray too far away from that. He didn't do anything wrong but didn't excel either, not that he was expected to considering he is only seventeen years old and was making his England debut.

He did Ok, made the wrong decision at times & got caught in posession a few times, but he always looks lively. I thought Roy left him out there too long & should have given Zaha at least 25/30 minutes.

great technique from ibrahimovic, he's still a lazy tosser and joe hart was badly at fault. the way the ball bounced off that crap pitch caught him out... but the full back had zlatan covered.

the fact is england are dire and watching caulker as the next england cb was funny. that boy is another english donkey..... another phil jones.

and yes stelring should only have gotten 45mins.

He wasn't in it much after the substitutions. From then on almost everything was played down England's left and Sterling was a bit isolated most of the time.
