Rafa confirmed at the Merseyside Peasants

Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie believes Rafael Benitez could be Everton manager by the end of today.

Downie claims Everton have offered the job to Benitez and it is now down to the Spaniard to accept terms.

He told the Sky Sports Transfer Centre last night: “Now that it has been offered to him, we do expect him to accept that job and be the successor to Carlo Ancelotti who obviously left for Real Madrid earlier this month.

“Big story for Everton, really. Rafa Benitez is a man who’s done so well in football right across Europe and he’s set to take over the reins at Goodison Park next season.

“As we understand it, that one could be wrapped up as early as [Thursday].

“Big story there after pretty much accepting the role from the Everton board.”

Richard Keys has told Everton they are about to make a 'huge mistake' in a long rant aimed at Rafael Benitez.

Benitez is closing in on becoming the replacement to Carlo Ancelotti and Keys - speaking with Andy Gray on BeIN SPORTS - believes it is 'staggering' Farhad Moshiri is considering the Spaniard.

Keys said: "I've just exchanged messages with a former Everton [player] and he just said I'll never go back.

"I find this staggering that they're even talking and interviewing him, let alone appointing him. He's not for Everton.

"They could not make a more divisive appointment, and there is the view if he wins three or four games as Ancelotti did and start well next season, that will ease the pain of some Evertonians.

"But not for me."

"Everywhere he has been, he falls out with the owners because he wants to do things his way.

"In a modern world, that doesn't happen at a modern football club.

"Think again very quickly.

"You're about to make a huge mistake, and I don't think Evertonians will forgive you for it, whatever you produce going forward from this point."

Are they different levels? Can't recall either club actually winning anything
Yeah you'll generally always see Everton in the top half of the premier league. You'll generally see Newcastle fighting relegation or plying their trade in the championship. Everton won a fair bit in the 80's and 90's. Newcastle last won a trophy around about 1955.

Not too long ago they had gon Carlo and won the league after 4 games, not to mention vvd day to celebrate, also all the reveling in us not winning the league and then not gettng top 4 towards the end.

Then allison scored a winner in injury time... gon carlo bounced, tobes lost the plot and a few other things cos of "the bet":bandit:

And peej now grimacing behind a monitor cos a living Liverpool legend might get the job.
