Not to belabor the point, but the squad which Benitez has seen weakened by £45 million was a squad that got relegated. If you accept the common wisdom that, due to depreciation, you need to spend £10 - £20 million just to stand still, you would expect us to be candidates to be relegated from the Championship, not the Prem.
