?????? he's retired.... ergo match him up to just about every major manager has him looking average lets give farguson some kudos. a cup winners cup and 2 champions leagues over 25 years say. but i aint counting nothing cups like spuer cups or world club rubbish. anchelotti has 3 champions leagues and counting mourinho has 2 CL, one uefa cup trapattoni..1 European Cup 1 Cup Winners' Cup 3 UEFA Cups arrigo sacchi 2 european cups benetiz: 1 european cup, 2 uefa cups and the list goes on and on and on... gaurdiola, paisley,clough.... and on... the ignorance of this plainly wum ATTEMPT is sad. most successful.... what a moronic statement.
He is by far the best manager in the history of the game. Both in terms of trophy haul and impact. Hes never won the eufa cup. Thats the only club trophy he didnt win. He did win the cwc though. Without doubt the greatest and moat successful manager in football history. Will never ever be repeated.
ah so now the story changes "I believe hes the most successful in europe based on europwan trophies." now becomes: "Without doubt the greatest and moat successful manager in football history" lets me translate this for any LFC fans reading who are bases in the woods. "blah blah blah talking bolloxology, oh ooops i put my foot right in it, let me bluster my way past by trying another tactic" Shambolic contribution today UiR... must do better.
Fergie has 7 europeam titles. 2 CL 2 CWC (equal to the uefa cup as both are now the europa league) 2 super cups Intercontinental cup Officially europes most successful manager.
now if you'd bothered to read i said lets not bother including nothing cups and by your own sad effort... let me quote once more... "trophy haul and impact" super cups have zero impact on the football world and world clubs even less. as for trying to double the value of a cup winners cup that UEFA admitted was the third tier competition nobody wanted by ending it... why you are just soooo witty. honestly you should really hang your head in shame as you are embarrassing yourself and all manchester utd fans.
Maybe in your opinion. However, there have been plenty of more influential managers worldwide - football did not start with the EPL!
Can we get back on topic and discuss Rafa and his return to Liverpool and not some whisky-soaked ex-manager.
If your counting mickey mouse cups like the ESC and ICC/FWCC as well real trophies he's got 8 but so has Pep and Ancelotti Stopping moving the goalposts to try to prove a point that's factually wrong
If you'd followed the thread then you would know that I've already said that my heart would have him back tomorrow (not sure in what capacity) but my head says no - at the present moment
Factually wrong? Uefa have fergie joint first in their official standings for European success. Not sure how uefa could be wrong but i am sure you will explain why.
What I feel certain of regarding Rafa: He will significantly improve our defense with out actually signing any new defenders. We will control possession better. We will be less cutting edge in attack (ok we are any way with Balotelli up on his own...) but will churn out results. Daniel Sturridge will begin living on horse placenta injections to keep fit.
Personally i dont think he would be a good choice. You often find returning managers are worse the second time around. Dalglish at liverpool, van gaal at barcelona and keegan at newcastle are a few examples.
Dalglish is a completely different situation. Football changed a lot in 20 years but Dalglish's ideas did not. He also took over a world class team that he was captain of. I'm not so familiar with the other two examples. Mourinho could well do better second time around. Capello had success both time with Milan, but not with Real Madrid.
To my mind Rafa should not return in the manager's role but as DOF. However, I do not see that as being a partnership made in heaven for Rodgers
Its not always the case. Van gaal failed second time at barcelona but did well with holland. More often than not though, its worse.
Happy to He's actually joint first with Ancelotti in that list on 7 For some reason they include the Intercontinental cup on that list but not the FiFA world club championship that replaced it. Add those titles (only seems right if you include the ICC) then Fergie, Ancelotti and Pep all have 8.
