Exactly. And because it is indirectly, he has no obligation to the club. To be fair to Ashley he has never hidden this from day 1. People seem to continually ignore this when assessing his valuation of the club. I can only assume they've never run a business or a group of businesses. The value of something is always a combination of worth to the owner and worth to the market. In this particular case it is never and never will be solely what someone is willing to pay. The truth of it is that some fans get their knickers in a twist because they can't understand how Newcastle cannot generate enough to compete with the likes of Everton. They look at how much our fans pump in and the numbers on seats, it doesn't add up. They just don't seem to believe that the PL is not some gold mine for the club. Nearly every club has owners who are indirectly making money for their other businesses by being part of the show. Even if their commercial deals of late may generate more than we do, it doesn't explain the chasm in desire to get better. They have owners willing to pump money in and take the hit short term because they believe they will recover all these funds or are happy to have a play thing. Our fans frustration is not truly where has the money gone. If it is then they are not very clever. Their frustration I assume stems from, or should do, that this guy is indirectly making 100's millions off the back of the club but he won't chuck a bit back or even allow the club to saddle a small amount of debt by borrowing. He has us in purgatory as he promised.
please log in to view this image For what its worth I don't think Rafa's departure has any bearing and the takeover could be on, but I will believe it when there is something concrete. At present we have someone claiming to have made an offer which has been accepted. The selling party has not confirmed this and the PL can't. The reason for the tongue in cheek remark is the simple linking back of Arteta to another Arab owned club. To be honest a new owner could see the great PR in them riding in on a white horse and re-instating the man the fans want to take us forward. I've always thought it more likely is though they have their own ideas on who would be the right man but who knows.
