Rafa Benitez was informed of his Newcastle exit by a FRIEND while at his Wirral home as club did not contact him before releasing statement
    • Rafa Benitez will officially leave his post as Newcastle manager on Sunday
    • The Spaniard failed to agree a new contract with the club's owner Mike Ashley
    • Ashley made his decision following a heated email exchange between the pair
    • Benitez had not been expecting Ashley to issue a statement on Monday

They may as well erect a big top ****ing tent over SJP, it’s Grade A ****ing clown school this like!

Ashley must know that he can literally never set foot in this city again now, what kind of relationship is that to have with the most important people at the club?

Nope you have to have an owner who is willing to put money in or spend on the never never as the owners of those 4 clubs do.

The only solution is for someone to buy the club from him - there is no other way around it. We don't have the money, he won't give us his money or let us borrow it. People were very keen to believe this Arab interest as genuine. If that is the case then they must also think a deal can be reached with Ashley rather than naysaying about his intentions. Afterall this Arab buyer has said he did reach an agreement with Ashley and the PL is currently assessing their interest.

Don't get me wrong Ashley is more than capable of scuppering any deal whether that is through add ons at a later stage etc. Despite fans speculating nothing has come out of either camp to suggest that is the case or indeed that there is a problem at all. Quite simply we have to wait and see. If the upshot of all this is that we have to lose Rafa to get rid of Ashley, I'd accept it readily. I think most sane fans would because quite simply, Rafa isn't all that important when it comes to the progress of our football club. The single biggest issue is the sale going ahead. Keeping Rafa would not have helped the club progress because as he correctly noted, progress requires finance and will. Our owner has neither or won't make either available.

Its a nice story for our fans to keep moaning about money. However no one has yet to present an overview of our finances based in fact and figures, which can be linked back to our accounts which suggest that we have the money to compete. I suspect this is because no such evidence exists.

Not really we don't have the money Rafa needs. He has made it clear he wants to see investment in the youth facilities and training facilities. He wants to see transfer funds made available to make relegation not an issue and to allow us to compete just below the top echelons. Even if you are being conservative that would take probably 50-60m to improve the squad (I'm not convinced 60m will move us that much higher up the league). Then the facility changes on top of that. We know we don't generate that kind of finance and we know he will only allow us to spend what we generate.

Quite simply we're not a good enough option for Rafa. We're too poor. Hence we need a takeover and money pumped in that we don't have to generate.

What a ****ing drama queen. He clearly hasn't followed Newcastle for 53 years putting out **** like that. Every single person of an age of 40 and above can remember far lower times.

You know full well that businesses can adjust their balance sheets to a certain extent to show profit/loss. If they're looking to boost share price they'll show more profit, to minimise taxes they'll charge themselves for internal costs to show a loss. To take an example at random, there's nothing to stop company A giving away advertising for free to company B owned by the same parent organisation, effectively transferring cash from A to B without it showing up on the balance sheet.

Amazon UK makes a loss. Amazon Jersey makes billions. Funny that. But of course balance sheets can't possibly be manipulated. Accounts are immutable.

If Ashley was not making a profit from the club, he'd gladly sell it for a tidy return on his initial investment. It would be terrible business to let cash stay tied up in an asset that wasn't making money, if he could release that cash and get a profit.

Literally the only reason for him to hang on to it is to take money out.

So either he's a savvy businessman. Or there's no profit available to invest. But not both.

    Which is it?

(Or are you just on a wind up? I know what my money is on...)

I'm sure one of those protestors is wearing the new top ffs. Either stop protesting against Ashley or stop giving him easy money!

I just noticed the following in a review of club finances:

So he will start paying for advertising apparently. Will be interesting to see if so and how much.

Being blunt of the main point, where is the evidence to back up this suggestion that NUFC makes huge profits he is taking? And its a bit more complicated though isn't it? We do make a small profit in the world of PL - we do not make profits of 60m plus. Very few clubs do. Figures can be manipulated as you say but when people keep saying where is the money, the question is always what money. Not what fans think we generate, what do we actually generate.

Ashley could probably accept the club even making a small loss. Why? The club is simply a vehicle for his main business to thrive. We know this. He even told our previous owner this when explaining why he wanted to purchase the club. Its why he places a value on the club to him that is probably not market value (allegedly again of course). Why would any savvy businessperson who runs more than one businesses that are linked, take away a vital piece of his jigsaw unless someone is offering them silly money to do so.

So the point for Ashley isn't that NUFC is some cash pit to take money from. It doesn't generate enough finance for that to be of interest. What is of interest is the money he makes indirectly through Sports Direct. You only have to look at the mushrooming of that business since he took over NUFC.

So you're saying that he makes money out of owning the club, but that money doesn't show up in the club accounts. Which he then refuses to invest.

    Is that right?

    This from the Express:

Bookmakers have placed Mikael Arteta as the early frontrunner for the job, while it’s being circulated that ex-Colorado Rapids manager Anthony Hudson has been contacted by Toon managing director Lee Charnley.

Looks like Lee is determined to replace Rafa with a top manager.
