Wasn't that the last time Sunderland's won the top division? I think Beady (as he was known to the fans) was top-scorer as well that year. There were some accusations of financial mismanagement though as they were selling off holy relics to fund player transfers.
Was it bollox it was Lindisfarne and Bamburgh he stopped at Monkwearmouth for a **** on his way to Durham another load of bollox, if you are refering to times gone by tell the truth now as you seem to go way back is it true that Sundland sent free buses to the outlining areas of Gateshead to pick up anyone wanting to go to a football match ???
Let me educate you on the true facts. The Venerable Bede [as a 7 year old] was entrusted into the care of Bishop Biscop [the founder of Wearmouth Monastery at St Peter in 674AD.] Bede moved this monastery to Jarrow in 682AD and founded St Pauls [when he was 19 years old.] It was from the Jarrow monastery that his sphere of influence over Northumbrian and thus English history began. It is well recorded in historical texts and is taught ad nauseam in many schools, colleges and Universities. If you want to claim that he was born in Sunderland - He never actually gave his birthplace and that has been debated for centuries. Unless you can offer some evidence that countless historians seemed to have missed then you really are making yourself look silly.
To be fair, if he never gave his birthplace there's every chance he could have been a Mackem. I mean, it's not something you would advertise, is it?
It never ceases to amaze me how a younger generation used to getting everything so easily believe that it was always so, NO ONE at that time anywhere in the country sent free buses anywhere , a lot of our travel was done on things called legs
now I know for fact you are talking utter ****e you either, don't know talking bollox again or just basically as I suspect you're a total bell end which one is it - you decide
