If only it were that simple. If it were doing your job, something essential, it is a strong argument. But for something that is entertainment and easily replaced, they are attacking a vulnerability.
They are targeting soft targets where lots of people are. The layers of security make this type of event unattractive. Properly open spaces or places which you can easily get into are better. Also remember where this cell seems to be. The Trafford or any other shopping centre is at more risk than the big weekend.
Seriously. Cod anti terror advice. Please don't presume to know what is safe. As someone who has a genuine insight into this world all I would say is get on with your life and don't stop to think. This "cell" is not indicative of any location or evidence that any area is safe. What's the idea a public space is safer? It's rubbish. Just stop with the over thinking and go out and have fun. If someone wants to detonate a bomb it will be wherever they want to take it. Crowded spaces are more impactive and usually those on an exit route or softer target area. Making bombs isn't child's play and you'd be surprised how many threats get squashed before you ever hear. Have a wonderful weekend. And don't look back. Ever.
Aye, I understand your point, but find the logic awry. They are developing a trend of attacking venues, pop culture. It's a cheap, but hugely effective shot, from their perspective. The M62 is a simple route, nothing hard or distant. As far as the venues are concerned it is just getting more and more challenging as it evolves; challenging for the security forces, that is. They (ISIS ****) don't need to be in there, it is the approach and departure chanels, the brief bottlenecks that are so hard to police. Don't discount anywhere. They know we are good at finding and closing them down; they will make the most hay whilst the sun shines. It's a **** sandwich.
I made a point of this on the abruptly closed thread; the point was echoed in the news some hours later. This group has a rapidly diminishing window of opportunity. This weekend is it; let's hope we have it contained.
Think I read somewhere that only the people who bought the tickets can use them and tickets bought from touts won't work.
In reality you're right, it could happen anywhere at any time and a large gathering of 25,000 people is always going to be a potential target. However, very rarely do these things happen again a few days afterwards, the increase in security is usually a deterrent and they'll look for new unsuspecting targets. Even if they were to attack another concert this weekend the travel arrangements alone make the big weekend a harder target than say the Slam Dunk Festival in Leeds or many of the sporting events taking place all over the country. Anyone ruling it out completely is naive but we have to accept that it's very very unlikely.
Dont get me wrong: it's a worry. I'm at a theme park, Springboard Festival and Big Weekend this weekend. All are going to be crowded places and potentially at risk but we can't put our lives on hold as hard as that may sound to get on.
just paid £200 for tickets for both days good price i guess love the lineup and it's in hull pretty much!
You sure you need the card. Bit difficult if someone not going paid for them.. sorry replied to wrong post
There's a piece about Mike Ronson on BBC breakfast news at 9.05, about his rise from a council worker in Hull to being Bowie's main man.
I think taxis are still running, although they have to pre register But they aren't going direct to the site, they're going somewhere else and then there'll be a bus from there EDIT info off BBC website below Anyone who has pre-booked a taxi will be taken to a taxi drop-off and pickup point close to the venue, where they will be searched and transferred by a free shuttle bus to the event for their second security check. A free shuttle bus will return people to the taxi pickup point as well.
