Wow, this has got to a ridiculous stage and the new season is nowhere near starting. What's it going to be like then? Sensible approach Taff as I guess those moderating the site could also be at risk of prosection for allowing such words. Could be deemed to be tolerating racial slurs. It is all about context and the manner in which words are used. The really unfortunate thing is that in banter we could use such words amongst ourselves and regard them as acceptable but some third party reading it could take offence and legally pursue the matter even though it was nothing to do with them. The world has gone mad. In running my business I have to be so careful about what is said and goes out on the pc's. We used to have a great circulation of joke e-mails but that has all stopped for risk of offending someone. Work can be hard enough but that was one outlet of good fun effectively removed at a stroke.
Blue, yeah the world has gone totally mad. I see the point of some control, now someone has raised certain words as an issue I was obliged to follow up. Joke emails can be fantastic for moral but as soon as one is seen as inflammatory (irrespective of content) everyone suffers.

Fishy was whingeing because of the 'tingtong' comment by NJ (despite the fact that it's used on a BBC program without complant but there you go) and I merely pointed out that it was a bit rich complaining when we're called gypos, pikies and worse over here. Taff....... Pikie or gypo are not racist but derogatory terms and are considered as such in a court of Law. In law they are not defined as names but terms. Terms are used to describe objects or even people. Gypo is also an acronym: Giving Young People Oportunities. Other examples of such terms include, 1. Scum 2. Bloob. I work in criminal justice and 'Gypo' is a racist term though would only be prosecuted as such if one was referring to one from that community. Fact. Like I said. Whatever. As I have to explain myself...the rug was pulled because I pointed out that we regularly get racist comments over here and it's been going on for years. But you know that. The hypocrisy is staggering. You're either too ignorant or dull to acknowledge it, though this thread appears to try and redress the balance, I'll give you that. Don't hold your breath.

Is this the same justice system that has been accused of being inherently racist?
I wouldn't call "bin dippers" racist. We use self regulation here and although not perfect it works to varying degrees. I like to think most people actually think before they post and would actualy know what is racist. Unfortunatley not always the case.
