Self- imposed gagging order eh? Shame, place isn't the same without you and Oddball keeping us thinking and laughing. Roller and Brix's heavyweight contributions missing too.
    I hate the close season.

There have been a scattering of conciliatory messages posted by couple of honest guys here but the main protagonists of whipping up the mob must not be allowed sneak away into the night without being made accountable for their feverish prevarications and outright begrudgery of our Polish and Ukrainian brother's capabilities of hosting a big Tournament.

Of course some leeway should be given as the British media's unrelenting castigation of the host Countries was bound to have an impact on the more credulous and imbecilic (Flyer) of our members. Nevertheless, there's plenty of people that, quite simply, should have known better.

Intelligent guys such as Staines, Oslo, Matt, Uber, RTID, Petesupahoops, Nines and many more allowed themselves be carried along by a wave of bigoted sensationalism and I believe the least they should do - if they have any dignity at all - is come on and admit they made a serious error of judgement.

I will admit to selfishness on my part to not letting this rest. When everyone slates you over a particular subject yet you turn out to be correct, it leaves a sour taste when your erstwhile critics don't acknowledge their mistake. I know I would salute an adversary when he/she was proven to be correct. It comes as no surprise that Stan was immediately on to congratulate the host Nations - gentleman that he is.

So come on then the rest of you. Lets be having ye

And I seconded it Swords and was happy to do so. But, and it's a big but, admit it, you enjoyed giving out the flak as well, you thrive on it...

Without question. When people are talking sh*te I love exposing them. In fact, it gives me great pleasure. One thing I don't do though (even though people say I do) is go against the grain just for the sake of it. They are always my honest opinions. But I do enjoy giving them!

This is a total contradiction of what you were saying before your sabbatical, when you stated that you had no real opinions and said things just to wind people up. This, of course, most of us realise anyway!

What's all this apologising for? What we supposed to be sorry for? I wrote on here somewhere that I ended up thinking it was probably good the tournament was being held there, as the multi culture they'd be getting in their back gardens, may rub off on the locals. Don't know that it has or not, but I don't see this tournament as being a big failure, there was some aggro but then there always is. And a lot of the football was really good.

No. Stop bending the truth COL, I know your game! I said I don't believe in anything much. What I argue are always my opinions but I don't believe in them to the point of getting upset or wanting to defend them at all costs. I don't find the stuff discussed as life or death or anywhere near it (some clearly do) so I do find it all quite amusing. And yes I do crank it up sometimes for effect but believe it or not, they are still my opinions!

I had you figured out from day one Colly. You're a top poster and no doubt a top bloke.

But you just CAN'T STAND IT when someone disagrees with you! Its like something goes off in your head. Maybe you take it as a personal insult or something I don't know.

But if you want to be 100% certain there's no goalpost shifting, get up that post of mine and we'll see exactly what I said.

No need Swords. It's all down to interpretation and you are now moving the goal posts just enough to win the argument.
I don't have a problem with someone disagreeing with me....but I do have a problem with WUMs like you who say things for effect and simply to wind people up.

Ok Swords, you win. You were right and there wasn't the major disorder predicted by me and others out there.
You might not believe it but after reading a big article in 'The Independent' about how it was out there I was gonna write a thread of apology to you but as usual , better people beat me to it.
I think partly my problem is I live in the time when I used to follow our National team abroad, when these places were VERY dangerous places to go and there was always trouble on the cards.
Luckily you won't see me too much on here now ( I have my reasons) but as a parting gift please once again accept my apologies for doubting your opinions. Take care mate and keep winding everyone up 'cos it can be very funny (if people 'get' you ). :)
