For someone who can dish out gratuitous insults to all and sundry you're a bit of a sensitive soul Swords...
Not sensitive at all Sooper, just having an opinion that's all. I couldn't care less about the Frogs and I hope you hammer hell out of them tonight.
Wow, a minute in and no claims of racism! The Daily Mirror Editor must be shi*ting his pants! Come on Ukraine
David Cameron 'prepared to consider EU referendum' COMMENTS (660) Mr Cameron said the government needed 'tactical and strategic patience EU referendum calls continue EU vote backed by 100 Tory MPs Owen: EU referendum 'inevitable' David Cameron is prepared to consider a referendum on the UK's EU relationship, but only when the time is right, he has written in the Sunday Telegraph. In the article, the prime minister said he wanted a "real choice" for voters but said an immediate in/out referendum was not what most wanted. The Lib Dems said the article addressed internal Tory divisions, adding there is little public appetite for debate. Nearly 100 Conservative MPs have called for a poll during the next Parliament. In a letter to the prime minister, they urged him to make it a legal commitment to hold a vote on the UK's relationship with the EU.
Just making the point from an old post that here we go Swords - my ramblings came through and there he is calling for a referendum on Europe - just like I predicted - so there...
Think it's worth noting the minimal amount of trouble at these championships, racist or otherwise, certainly a lot less than many, including me, expected. So apologies to Poland and Ukraine, well done for hosting what has looked like, at a distance, a well run tournament. Still don't think much of the Ukrainian government, but the spectre of racist thugs attacking all and sundry was well out of order. Hope the BBC apologizes as well.
I'll second that FFS. I thought we were in for allsorts especially after the Russians kicked it all off against the Czechs. The stupidity of allowing the Russia Day march didn't help things but other than that this has been an excellent Championship behaviour wise and, Ukraine in particular, deserve great credit for this as many who have been there say they have been the most friendly and welcoming of hosts. As you say, I think the BBC should apologise for their scaremongering which may well have denied many English fans who decided not to go from a great experience, having said that they are so arrogant there's little chance. One other worthy footnote of this tournament was that there wasn't a single English fan arrested which shows how we've also changed over the years. Well done all...
Think we should give credit to Swords here. He was saying this all along, pretty much a lone voice. Fantastic to see the English fans celebrating a great event alongside other nationalities. Great PR for the host countries too and well deserved. Edit - you beat me to it Sooper!
You've been very quiet Swords - busy hanging out the bunting for Platini's visit to Dublin the present the nation with the 'fans of the tournament' award?
