A British man has died in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia before England's Euro 2020 qualifier.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said it was "supporting the family of a British man who died following an incident in Sofia".
Another British man suffered a minor injury in a separate incident, the FCO spokesperson said.
The announcement of the man's death came as England prepared to take on Bulgaria in Sofia on Monday night.
The FA said it would not be commenting until the full circumstances of both incidents were clarified.
Meanwhile, a statement on Bulgaria's Ministry of Interior said police officers in Sofia were called to help a 32-year-old "foreign national" at about 10:00 local time (08:00 BST).
"The police received a signal for a man in a helpless condition", it said, and he was taken to hospital.
"He suddenly began to act aggressively, raging and threatening."
The ministry said the man died while being take to the Sofia Police Department and "work to clarify the circumstances of the incident continues".
England fans were involved in clashes with police in Prague on Friday, before their 2-1 defeat by the Czech Republic.

On news, police took him to hospital, they said he became aggressive , so arrested him and he died on way to police station.
Be honest racism in our game is pretty rare, and I look at the England team sheet and don't even think about their colour and most of the team is coloured. When I was a kid we had the first black player and we loved him. i was at the debut of Terry Connor and we have had some brilliant black players and some of them like Radebe, Yeboah were worldies. We don't have it any more really but isolated incidents elsewhere in the UK. These countries need kicking out end of

Why don't people call it what it is, name calling to upset and put players off their game, and it works with some. They need to grow up and stop throwing their rattles out the pram. There are literally millions of people around world who don't care what others say, why, cos they're very secure in their own skins, just like us white folk.
The reason some people react and get upset is cos they're not secure in their own skins, irrespective of the colour.
If high profile overpaid players can't handle name calling and keep getting games stopped then they shouldn't be playing.
Leeds, Swansea, Boro, WBA, and other teams fans all have a go at each other and call each other names, don't see too many people claiming racism do you.

I cannot but agree with LL on this one. For FS, you overpaid ****ers, grow a pair.
So far we've had "racism doesn't exist", now "racism is ok because you get paid a lot".
I did not watch the game as its just another game too many by the money makers. Then we as champ clubs have to sit around doing nothing hoping our players come back fit.
By all accounts the England players just got on with it as they should have. Makes me laugh as im sure they get much more abuse in the U. K. every week. A few idiots making monkey noises and doing nazi salutes not even knowing there own history or ours. Just all a bit pathetic really.

There’s no room in football for Nazi salutes and Monkey noises. This isn't 1 or 2 people which will always be hard to stop.
Scientifically there is only one race agreed.
But racism is a real social invention by thick ****s like you.
If you're educated Dirty, tell us about racism, tell us how every game should be stopped because someone is sooooooooooo sensitive they cannot handle name calling.
