Hello All My most used website on my phone has been, up until recently, racingpost.com and in particular the race day live section, mainly because of the excellent text commentary provided for each and every race. With a decent 4G data connection I can keep track of each race I'm interested in on my phone and it doesn't ring alarm bells for anyone or use much of my data allowance. I've even used the page with my Windows Tablet sat in Starbucks with a coffee and a cake on a Sunday afternoon and it worked great. However, the service just seems to have stopped and the race day live page only has comments, tips, paddock picks, results etc but now without the text commentary. Have you used this service and noticed the same? Have I missed something here? I've tried with my phone, with a tablet and with a PC and in each case no commentary. Has Racing Post now decided that you can only get text commentary with their app and not on the website? I think I'm going to send an email and ask them, but thought I would ask the trusted experts on this board first. Cheers SJ.
Can't help there Simon as I've never used it. In fact I wasn't aware it was available. Must be very difficult to keep up with text based commentaries if the football live text is anything to go by. I used to listen to the live commentaries by Timeform but that has gone now, unless you are a Betfair customer. It seems that if you have a betting account with some firms you get live video coverage, otherwise there is nothing as far as I know, other than the TV coverage
If you download the racing post app on mobile phone you can get access to William Hill radio on the go. Live text was working for me at the weekend, and will report back later if it’s not working today.
Only works if using William Hill as the selected App. Ladbrokes, Coral and Paddy's don't have the commentary
https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/24/hereford/2018-11-13/714376/raceday-live That should be the url for the first race at Hereford and the live text
Spot on Nass. However, in recent days, I've been using this for each of the race cards, yet the text commentary is not showing at all. I'm still seeing the tips updates, the paddock picks, the comments from trainers, the going updates etc, just as has been for some time now, but when the race starts there is no text commentary, which used to be available for all races ( I wish I had a screenshot to show you ... ). I'm going to contact Racing Post - they also prompt you to choose a bookies for your racecard; I do this and yet the race card does not show the odds. I'm now wondering if this is something to do with web browser settings ? I'll let you know.
Will let you know in ten minutes!! Given how much of a shambles the RP is, it wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve messed it up
Have you tried downloading 'Mobdro'? I find it excellent for everything. All sports channels live including at the races and racing uk
I used to use the text reporting at work as it was an inconspicuous way of watching the racing in the office. Sometimes it didn't come up at all which I put down to our outdated browser and maybe the firewall. Haven't used it in a while though.
I'm very interested in this but need some guidance on a few simple questions: Which platform does it work on? (I have iphone and windows laptop, ideally would like to install on both). Exact name of the app in app store? Is there much setting up to be done or is it pretty much plug and play? I recall trying to install on my iphone a while back and not getting very far ..............
I've chosen William Hill as the bookies and I've opened the race day live page for the 12.50 at Lingfield - nothing so far. Now, the Hereford page, highlighted above, does have all the usual info - the last update showing us a betting update relating to Ballygown Bay. Let's see if the commentary works ...
Not sure if it is available in iphone OddDog. I've only got a poor android. All I did was google Mobdro free download, and it gave me the option to download it. I think it's great. Not had any problems with it at all.
Hereford commentary working fine, with a dodgy enough browser from the Microsoft store on my outdated Windows Phone. Another nail in the coffin - time for me to switch to Android.
Agree on mobdro, brilliant app, can watch ATR/RUK live & Sky Sports.I would highly recommend downloading it if you can. Also sockshare very good for watching films, sky atlantic/ Netflix etc http://www1.sockshare.net
if you lg onto Ladbrokes they show a cartoon with a commentary for most races. Be very careful I proposed then the horse won!
Early Christmas Present; seems it was a Racing Post issue, now it works perfectly with Microsoft Edge, so it's text commentary all the way today. Lovely.
