No idea why but this cropped up on YouTube today and it brought back happy memories. I grew up with Graham Goode's commentaries, his legendary call that Dancing Brave had "oh so much to do" in the 1986 Derby still sends shivers down my spine. This was his last commentary and, for whatever reason, I watched it live at the time by sheer coincidence. At the time, and still today, I found it a beautifully crafted tribute to the industry that he clearly felt privileged to work in for so many years and it makes me think that racing is poorer for the absence of the likes of Graham Goode and Alistair Down. Anyway enjoy the call of the "2010 Graham Goode's Commentating Swansong Maiden Open NH Flat Race" and watch out for the horse staying on well to finish second
In his early days he was a good commentator but he then started putting his own opinions into his commentaries: just not needed. I think that caused him to be sidelined a lot earlier than one would have expected.
