All very true, but, and it’s a big but, regardless of all the good work you mention he has to sort out our home form, because if he doesn’t, he’s going to find himself coming under increasing pressure, and rightly so.

Agreed, it's on the field that counts. None of the previous regime bashers on here has given any credit to that group for what was achieved off the pitch and the progress the CLUB has made, it was all about on-field, so it's the same for all managers. NP knew what he signed up for, he could have walked away after his temp contract if he didn't like what he saw and was offered, he will be judged on what happens on the pitch and our league positions at seasons end. Football clubs continually re-build, LJ had to after taking over from SC, and now so does NP. I don't believe NP is any danger of the sack unless we are looking deadset for relegation, and nor should he be unless that occurs. But, people on here can't keep blaming people from 2 years ago for poor performances now!

The club's facilities have been improving since prior to SC's day, the planning subject to council approval, the time spent discussing with local communities, SL placing funding in the right places, the stadium development complex, the high performance centre, Bristol Sports enveloping rugby, basketball, womans league football and various other bodies and enterprises all leading to the progress the individual teams has made. Ashton Gate Stadia is the west country's leading sport centre.

NP is now the man at the helm of Bristol City, he is the manager, the successes and failures are down soley to him, previous incumbents have gone, it's a Nige team, they are Nige's players, Nige makes the selections and dictates team tactics, as has been said we can't keep blaming past failures on todays performances, it's down to Nige the good and the bad, it's his era, I can't say it any more plainer, I hope you agree

Bristol City press conference live: Nigel Pearson
    Nigel Pearson on coaching team
Yeah, a little bit [more responsibility on Curtis and Nigel for coaching]. We made a statement last night didn't we? I think that's clear: they've gone and Alex Ball is with us, who was with the squad in pre-season too. A really good coach and I like him a lot. There's a lot of our younger players through the development system so we'll carry on and it's fine.

NP on "having a coaching team you're comfortable with"
No, you're trying to put an angle on something that has happened. As far as I'm concerned the two of them are no longer here, and I'm happy with the people who are here. So let's just leave it like that. I don't think there's a lot to expand on. We are at the stage where we are and I'm happy with the people here and more importantly they are too. That's just where we're at. That's fine.

    NP on Nathan Baker
He's not going to be taking part this week, and probably won't be next week either. It was a very bad knock to the head so he's not currently been in so far. I thought I might have seen him by Wednesday or Thursday and hopefully he'll be in tomorrow. The most important thing with head injuries is that the player's health is the primary factor.

He's a gentle giant, a great lad and a really good footballer. We need him to be well first before we consider him again. I've spoken to him a few times and he seems in good spirits but clearly it's a bad knock to go to hospital for sure.

    NP on Barnsley challenge
[I'm expecting] A game in which the team with the best ability to deal with the situation will come out on top. After our performance last week I just have to very much concentrate on us and that's where we are. They do hold a threat in terms of how they play but I measure us against us, and after last week's level of performance we put out it's very difficult to do anything other than work comprehensively ourselves to make sure we play the way we need to to win the game. And we need to win the game. It's really quite straightforward.

NP on the home form at Ashton Gate
I am very aware of it, of course I am. And I'm aware of people's frustrations. Our fans last week were not happy. I totally understand that and take full responsibility for it. The main thing is that we need to give a performance that tells our supporters how much we care, not just about the current situation. But the home form is a tough situation to find ourselves in but I keep stressing to the players about us performing to our best. We've got to trust ourselves that it'll happen. We've got to make it happen - we can't hope it happens. This is where strength of mind comes in but also clarity of thought.

Lack of clarity is something that can affect the performance. Clearly, we need to pull out the stops and get a win in any fashion. And that's the bottom line: we need to start winning games.

NP on avoiding the players over-thinking the home form
What's the point of having the elephant in the room? You've just got to go out and perform. Players and professional sports people are able to perform under pressure and stress because they are able to keep things simple. I look at some of our players and I know that they are struggling internally with certain things but they still go out and put in a whole-hearted performance - and that's strength of not just character but strength of will as well. And that's some of the players that you might think are some of our better ones.

I think it's pretty normal to feel under pressure or anxiety, but you've got to remember that there's types of stimulus that make us perform in the first place. Sports people should really enjoy performing under pressure because that's what it's about.

you can never forget history good or bad , what happened yesterday is the basis of what happens today, what happens today is what the future is based on ... it doesnt matter whether you encompass 1 hour 1 day 1 month or talk in terms of years/ decades or centuries what happened is not changeable ... you can try and blank it out but it is there ... like the slave traders they did what did and it changed the future ..like the meteor that hit earth 66 million years ago, it changed the future ..

not knocking anyone, we need to deal with the present, accept what is going on and occassionally have an opinion be it politics or sport or any other subject under the sun ...........

I try to stay out of controversial subjects, but I do feel that the current situation is quite farcical. We employ 2 coaches, which one article stated coaches do not come cheap, being ex national coaches I can only assume Paul and Keith were top end.
Not up together with how these "mutual consent " terminations are settled but my grandfather says with 2 years to run a settlement of around 1 years salary likely.
Saturdays game is a new leaf in many ways, ned a win and start going upwards, a loss and has anything been gained from the past 10 days

A win is essential on Saturday for many reasons not least our poor home form for 18 games but also to take some possible pressure on NP. Obviously we have to go with what we have until January and that could prove to be a difficult task unless the players step up and read from the same page. I wonder if NP is lining up his ducks for the transfer window splash and it will be interesting to see how that pans out given the strict financial restrictions but I would hope to see a major change of team tactics and formation in late January or mid February. The fact that we are a team in flux right now doesn't worry me because we have been that way for too long and let's wish that it won't be a lifelong trait.

What about Millwall, Luton Preston? If we wasn’t beating Forest until the 90th minute that was not the best either. Because we was winning masked that performance as we only think about last 4 minutes.
Forest in particular was poor substitutes. WBA was also not great in taking off Tanner so soon to be replaced with Simpson who’s been almost a new Nikki Hunt signing.

The situation has not changed from 6 months ago - we all said it would take time for him to sort it out

The harsh reality is that we were in a very bad place.

If you offered me our current league position at the start of the season I would have taken it.

He needs at least 3-4 more transfer windows to sort things out

Why? I wouldn't accept that then, now, or come May. NP has had a good amount of time to improve. Some will point to a temp contract and then a new contract to deflect the issues. We all wanted an experienced manager to come in after 2 inexperienced appointments, and we got it, and so far it hasn't worked out. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd wager Warnock would have sorted this out by now! And with that horrible thought in my mind I'm off to give myself a good talking to in the corner:emoticon-0145-shake:emoticon-0145-shake

Absolutely spot on with your comments-this football club required a massive shake up and what NP has done in his short time is excellent-the guy said it would take time and he deserves that time to sort the **** show out.
