A truly sad day,I too got up early morning with my old man to watch the Clay Liston fight I was 10 ,I am proud to say I was the only person in my class at Francis Askew to say he would win He was not perfect but he was brave,I just hope that idiot Trump doesn't come out with any racist remarks.

    R.I.P. The Greatest

Quite a few black nationalist racists on Twitter are using that televised interview with Parkinson from the '70s to make a point that all white people are racist, despite the fact Ali denounced his own views later on as racist and stupid.

This really doesn't need to be a race thing.

Really? That's negating a huge part of his life. He was a great man. He defied the draft because of his principles and was punished, he talked about injustices he and fellow African-Americans faced and whilst some of his views earlier in life were prejudiced bordering on racist, he later denounced them and believed that it wasn't a conflict between different races but part of a wider relationship between the powerful and the weak. I admire a man who can look at his actions and things he said in retrospect and admit he was wrong or ignorant rather than conjure up some bullshit to justify his previous bullshit. A lot on here, myself included, could do with taking a lesson from the Champion in this respect, in fact everyone in life could.

He once said that he was the greatest, not the brightest. He wasn't perfect but he was brilliant at certain things in his life and his talent for boxing puts him among an elite group of athletes.

R.I.P. Mohammed Ali. You really were the greatest of them all.

A pleasure to see you in your prime and pomp. A horrible way to end your years sadly.

Ali has now gone to God's place.

I knew of him via a close friend. We both bought our current bikes from him. Passed away doing the thing he loved. RIP Frank.
