Strange day today. Never met Boggers but his positivity lit a little torch every day. I knew he was ill but didn't know what. WJ & I have discussed MS because it is close to us both and I know what a sh1t of an illness it is. Today is my 14th wedding anniversary, second and far better attempt after the previous one fecked off with a "mate" of mine. Met Jan's beloved new horse today for the first time. My little man had his first day at big school today. Went to the memorial service of a dear friend this afternoon after she lost a 15 year battle with breast cancer two weeks ago (her youngest went through primary school with Ben). She was a month short of 51 and not 14 months older than me. Tonight I read this and broke a bit (his wife's FB post). Roll on Saturday, let's beat Burton and hope Ben's prediction is right, he can't see why we can't go the whole season unbeaten (it's so simple at 14). I will be cheering with a couple of pints from the Peacock in my blood and a couple of extra people in my heart. RIP Boggers, never knew you but know you were one of the good ones x
Just saw the twitter post Matt. Never met but RIP Boggers you were probably the most positive poster on here, even though I thought you were mad sometimes always made me smile with your positivity even when everyone else was grumpy. All the best mate let's hope Leeds put on a good run for you to give a final send off and you can watch in more comfort now wherever you may be. MOT
Wow gutted. Met him a few years ago in the Drysalters and always enjoyed the banter with him on 606, JA then here. Cant believe it as it seems like only hours ago were talking signings. RIP me old mate
R.I.P Boggers So sorry to hear of his passing lads, a sad day all-round as my brother told me earlier that one of his mate's mum has a terminal brain tumor with only three months max to live.
He mentioned to me on a different media platform that he had gone down hill and was confined to his room but didn't expect that. I'm sure I will be able to get hold of his wife if and when its appropriate. Time for the boggers positivity thread. Let's cut and paste a few of his gems and go up as ****ing champions
Sad news about a fellow Leeds United fan and contributor to the various message boards. Condolences to his family and friends.
Saw his FB post of Sunday about not being very well and thought i would send him a message, but didn't realise how poorly he was and didn't do it straight away. Wish i had now
Just read about this very sad news, puts life into perspective, Boggers always contributed with constructive comments on here, and I for one shall miss them. RIP
The paper trail makes sense, as he loved hashing. I wasn't completely sure what hashing was apart from involving running/walking and drinking, but this is what i found... Hashing is a form of non-competitive cross-country running with the main objective of working up a decent thirst. Great emphasis is placed on the social aspects - particularly the refreshment session at the aprés-hash. It's a fun activity and must not be taken at all seriously. If you have hashed before you will know the format, but for the innocent here's a quick rundown on what might happen. The Hash generally meets at a pub chosen by the hares (those that have set the trail) and the hounds, or pack, and set off at the appointed hour along a clearly defined trail (blobs of chalk or sawdust) with the front runners calling "ON, ON" for the benefit of the slower runners and latecomers catching up. Every 500 metres or so the trail will end, signified by a check mark which may be in the form of a line or a circle. The front runners on reaching the check start searching for the new trail.. This can be in any direction, along paths, streets, up rivers and streams or up the side of a convenient hill. The time taken by the front runners to find the new trail allows the runners at the back to catch up thus increasing the chances of everyone reaching the the pub at the end at roughly the same time. The front runners will usually find that the cunning hares have laid some false trails in addition to the the real trail - which are designed to ensure that the really fit types, sometimes known as FRBs (Front Running Bastards) will become exhausted more quickly keep together with the slower hashers. Another device used by Hares to achieve the same objective is the loop whereby the trail might go round 3 sides of a field allowing the back markers to run across the fourth. Hash runs are usually 4 - 7 miles long and are designed to last 1 - 1½ hours. Revelries in the pub after the run are up to the individual but it has been known for some muddy sweaty hashers to be turned out of the pub at closing time...
