    I'm sure your right but I still wonder whether many clubs (ourselves often / but not always included) just leave matters to the last minute because there's less hassle, while more organised clubs complete their business early and secure the better players.

    Going back to the prem days I think we were probably last resort for our targets (if indeed we did actually bid for them as i believe a lot of it was media talk) so they would have been hanging on for better deals. Maybe I'm been a bit cynical but there probably is an element of truth in it

    I completely understand your curiousity on the topic but I can't get my head around this statement. How would it be less hassle to get deals done at 23:59 on deadline day? Surely it'd be easier for all concerned to do it the way you're suggesting?

    What do you mean like what Billy Sharp appears to be doing at the moment with that club that we're not speaking about?

    Because by that time the selling clubs have less time to manoeuvre so they have to do business instead of delaying and trying to start a Dutch Auction.
