What does it matter where the players came from? You can't pick a game in isolation and use that as an example to prove a point. If Celtic buy players from Dundee Utd or Hibs or any Scottish team then the money spent by Celtic is recycled through the leagues because those teams will use that money to hopefully buy other young players and bring them through. Perhaps Celtic will poach them in future, or Rangers, what's wrong with that? Most of out Lions side were bought from Scots clubs, they never came through a youth system. If we buy foreigners cheap and sell them on as we have done then we make money that allows us to buy players like Ciftci, GMS, Armstrong, Griffiths etc. If Celtic are successful in Europe every other club rides upon our coefficient coat tails, hopefully one day other Scots clubs will do their bit and add to that success.
As an aside, if Celtic had not bought the trio from Utd the they would be £3m less well off, and if they had sold them to an English side would that have been better for Scottish football?
Actually Dev you should have done your homework ya lazy sod. Celtic had two players from their youth set up that started against Ross County. Tierney and Forrest. Which is actually quite good and would have saved ypu typing about 50 words
Shame we won't ever see the real Forrest, Scotland too injuries just aren't goin to allow it. Have seen Tierney a few times live, he looks the part
I never mentioned Callum MacGregor, or Liam Henderson or any of the other lads in our youth set up who have made first team appearances either, didn't want to gild the lily.
At the risk of bhumming up the BHEAST, I was at a Coaching seminar at Kirky Leisure centre in June. It was an SYFA seminar but the special guest was Willie McNab who runs Celtc's Academy. He explained in depth Celtc's system, how they wanted to produce "Champion's League players" and he was very complimentary about Delia and all but slated TLB's approach to games and yoof development. After he finished his piece, I asked him if Large John was aware and I was asked to leave. SWEEP SWEEP YOU MICKY BASTURTS!!!
