Nope. We'd have won it in 2009, with Barca, Chelsea and Arsenal not qualifying. Potentially also in 2000 (No Real) and 2002 (No Leverkusen). And we wouldn't have gone out in 2012, with no Benfica in the competition. So if the easy rules had stayed in place, Liverpool would now have four cups, and we'd definitely have three, and possibly four or five
Paisley won 5 European trophies, he got 1 uefa cup and a super cup to add to the 3 EC wins.pretty sure fergie got 7, tied with Trappatoni, won't beat those I don't think.
I make Fergies cups to be 2 CL, 2 cup winners cup, 2 Super Cups and the Intercontinental Cup (not European technically). Might be wrong. Doubt it though.
Seriously swarbs, are you having a snifter? Having to win your league to get in makes it more difficult to win the competition. This is a fact, only some messed up denial-logic would argue otherwise. What you are suggesting is that had certain teams not been in the competition United would certainly have won, I'd like to see your equations for that solution Anything could change had those teams not been there, the outcome anything but known. A guess, compared to actual fact above regarding the league and 1 spot.
