If Mark mcGhee was available at the time of appointment of Derek McInnes who would you have prefered?

This is not intended as a Wum. MM has taken over a team that was poor with no self confidence and turned them into side that has promotion form and with mostly the same players. I believe its all about man management to get the best out of what you have got. Unfortunately for you i think DM is lacking in this.<ok>
 
i see most have changed view to more positive of him and i not sure on Mark i did think rovers should have been doing better then they were

Onefor it was interesting to see you are a man who wants to prove you never wanted Del and respect for sticking to your guns. But do you not wonder why coppell ran so quick, I don't think the board will bankroll players sorry but to stay in the Championship the board should of funded a spree in Jan but 3 loans and a minimal fee for Foster (who is worth it).
But instead of attacking Del look at the problem that has been accumulating for a few years, we don't want to spend.
Maybe if we go down we can chance the basement for players to re build from the bottom.
Give him time if we go down there is nothing you or I can change it, if I'm wrong about Del well done to you but I just believe we will have a team soon who will fight for the honour to play for City!
I never wanted Millen from the word go but had to endure 14 months of him and still never changed my mind! Hopefully you will not have that long to see something

Here is an interesting stat:Mark Mcgee has had 8 clubs in his managerial career,"gasheads" have had 7 team managers in approx 15 months...

Does that make one a sacker and the other a slacker..? Match made in heaven..

Wize, i was trying to make a point about your current manager. You are correct at the Gas we changed managers until we got the one to stem the slide very much like Sunderland under Martin O'Neil. Some managers have it in their locker to motivate average players like Paolo Di Caneo at Swindon who believe me are nothing special, and now McGhee for Rovers.

I fully understand the need of all City supporters to stick behind the team when things are not going right on the pitch and that now is not the time to question the Manager and what will be at the end of the season will be. But if you do go down is he really the right man to take you forward and to rebuild your team on a shoestring budget. I would suggest that if he is struggling to motivate your current squad to fight for your club tooth and nail that perhaps he doesnt have required credentials to take you forward again.

I thought every time our board appointed a new manager that things would get better but believe me it doesnt always happen and hard decisions are needed to be made.

Nothing wrong with that warning - unless some who commented back then now find their contributions a little embarrassing.

Presently it's hard not to compliment 1For's foresight.

Although a constructive comment ROD, there are points I disagree with.

I believe there was money but I don't have the reason why the board didn't make it available. I mean we pay David James wages for a start.
So many poor decisions made by our board is the reason we are in the mess we're in. Del being the latest IMO.
Why would, they have appointed Coppell if they were not looking to spend, which ever way the board are to blame.
Then came the cheap option when appointing Millen, then the strange appointment of Del, someone with no experience at this level whatsoever.
If you had a business in crisis would you appoint a rookie?
They brought him in to save our season and as it sits it's not looking good. IMO that's failure from both the board and the manager.
Oh. what about the 30,000 seater new stadium? That will look good in league one!
Don't believe for a moment that if we go down we will be favourites to come straight back up because you are deluded. Just remember our games against Swindon & Crawley.....Outplayed in both.
Mark my words, we will struggle if something isn't done in the boards thinking.

This could be a bit harsh, as I have always had high regards for what SL has done for this club, but these last couple of years has been so poor, I can see we could be on our way to going back to how it was when he joined the club.

While the 'push for PL part' was hopelessly optimistic... Even if we go down, with the amount of players out of contract Del should be able to restructure the squad to how he wants it to be. It's not really fair to judge him until then and as I said on another post I do think all his signings have been worthwhile so I'd have confidence in him to get a decent team together. GJ was very very good at getting the best out of distinctly average players, the manager can be at fault but I can't help but feel that maybe our squad simply isn't that good. I think if we stick with DMc it'll all turn out alright in the long run. I'm not one for the 'fire the boss and hope for a good honeymoon period' school of thought.

Yes at a higher level Lan Lodger, I will spell it for you..Player at Chelsea (premiership) Manager West Ham (premiership).............wow, do you have a brain??
Zola was just my individual choice, but I would have been happy had it been a manager that was used to this level.
 
But James was on the books before Del came in, and as we have discussed 1001 times not one of us has said he was worth it!

That IMO was SL trying to cover the cracks with a star signing, yes he was at that time England's goalie but IMO we did not need to change keeper, just keep Henderson!

I have never fully been behind a 30,000 stadium, I said this on the gas site I think a stadium should be the size it needs to cater for and I can't see us filling a 30,000 stadium, maybe a stadium that can be extended in the future to cater for if needed.
IMO I feel that the stadium has been the boards focus not the playing side, because as we know get the structure in place then a potential buyer is more likely to look at you!

But would love it if it came off! But only if we have a decent crowd in there, don't want another Ricoh stadium or Riverside always looks empty.

Del is not a rookie he had 4 years experience but has been playing for years, so comparing to any other business as you put it, yes you would trust someone to come in, but you back them with all you can. Most companies promote from within, well mine does a vast majority of the time, and I don't work for a small company, probably one of the largest in the country in its field and backed by a multi billion diamond mining company.

Possibly one of the top five players ever to play in the premiership counts in my book............knowing the right way to play football also helps.
As for West Ham, I already answered you that in a different thread.
