    Dear Mr. Short,

I have always been an ardent follower of Sunderland's results and it would be remiss of me not to offer my sincere thanks for the joy you have brought to a humble soul from the North East since your inspired appointment of Steve Bruce.

As someone who understands the difficulties of running one's own business(albeit on a slightly smaller scale than your good self), I cannot fail to be impressed by your achievements since your involvement with SAFC, the hiring of Steve Bruce being a touch of genius(a trait very few of us possess).

Unfortunately some rather unsavoury types are spreading rumours that Mr. Bruce may be about to be relieved of his position, obviously they are devoid of the accumen that you and I possess regarding the bouyancy necessary to have an impact on the output in the working place in this great region of ours when positive results from the week's football enable us all to perform with a 'spring in our step'.

Whilst you are a powerful man, I believe you are a sensitive man and to relieve Mr. Bruce of his duties would undoubtedly lead to downturn in the spirits of many folk across the region.

I know you'll do the right thing.
